Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Exodus 8
The Plague of Gnats
16 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Tell Aaron, ‘Stretch out your staff and strike the dust of the ground,’ and throughout the land of Egypt the dust will become gnats.” 17 They did this, and when Aaron stretched out his hand with the staff and struck the dust of the ground, gnats came on people and animals. All the dust throughout the land of Egypt became gnats. 18 But when the magicians tried to produce gnats by their secret arts, they could not.
Since the gnats were on people and animals everywhere, 19 the magicians said to Pharaoh, “This is the finger of God.” But Pharaoh’s heart was hard and he would not listen, just as the Lord had said.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Oh LORD Our God
How Excellent is Your Name Over All The Earth!
You Alone Are Worthy To Be Praised,
For You Alone Are The One True God Of Abraham!
Holy, Holy , Holy, Are You,
LORD God of Power And Might,
Omnipotent, Omniscient, and Omnipresent,
And Yet, You Are "The God Who Sees"
even the smallest personal thing in our lives.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

Many a perfect camping trip has been ruined by "no-see-ums", or gnats. It seems that they have not invented a mesh fine enough to screen them out of a tent. Flies and Mosquitos are screened out, but gnats always seem to find a way in. They are just gnasty!
For those of us who see the Ten Plagues as Divine Judgement against Egypt's gods and goddesses, the gnats pose a problem. How are insects related to Egyptian Mythology?
It's hard to imagine any religion elevating insects to the rank of godhood, but we can't put anything past the Ancient Egyptians. One of their most treasured icons was the Dung Beetle, a nasty little critter that rolls balls of poop ahead of itself and eventually lays its eggs in it. In the Egyptian Pantheon, the kheper, or Sacred Scarab Beetle, was thought to represent Ra, the Sun God, rolling the Sun across the sky during the day. At night, the Sun would be swallowed by a Giant Snake and disgorged in the morning to be rolled across the sky again. Flies and Gnats also like to lay their eggs in poop, so there is a connection there. While we find this TOTALLY DISGUSTING, the instinct to choose this very strange "nursery" has its use in the Balance of Nature. Insect eggs hatch into larvae, which eat the surrounding waste and cause its rapid decay and removal from the environment. They are, in fact, the Clean-Up-Crew. Without this natural process, the world would become inundated in waste. Everything created by God, no matter how nasty the seem to us, serves a purpose.
However, when Nature gets out of whack, the results are disastrous. The First Chapter of Romans describes what happens when humans worship the created things instead of their CREATOR.
In Ancient Egyptian Myth, the profane becomes elevated to the sacred. The lowly, nasty, germ-ridden Dung Beetle becomes the Sacred Scarab, adorning some of the most exquisite jewelry unearthed from the tombs of kings. The Scarab gets elevated to godhood, depicted as a bug-headed man standing in the Pantheon with Isis and Osiris, Sobek, (who has a Crocodile head), Hathor, (who has the head of a cow) and so on. The worship of insects who lay their eggs in poop is about as low as you can go, but there it was.
We have seen God's judgement upon the Snake, the Nile God, and perhaps Sobek the crocodile. Now we are seeing the judgement against the bug-gods. As we continue, we will see other gods and goddesses spotlighted as Pharaoh continues to harden his heart.

Good Grief...I just found out the Khepri (the bug-god) is now a Computer-Game Character. You can't make this stuff up. We are in the End Times for sure.

Psalm 112
1 Praise the Lord!
Happy are those who fear the Lord,
who greatly delight in his commandments.
2 Their descendants will be mighty in the land;
the generation of the upright will be blessed.
3 Wealth and riches are in their houses,
and their righteousness endures for ever.
4 They rise in the darkness as a light for the upright;
they are gracious, merciful, and righteous.
5 It is well with those who deal generously and lend,
who conduct their affairs with justice.
6 For the righteous will never be moved;
they will be remembered for ever.
7 They are not afraid of evil tidings;
their hearts are firm, secure in the Lord.
8 Their hearts are steady, they will not be afraid;
in the end they will look in triumph on their foes.
9 They have distributed freely, they have given to the poor;
their righteousness endures for ever;
their horn is exalted in honour.
10 The wicked see it and are angry;
they gnash their teeth and melt away;
the desire of the wicked comes to nothing.
