Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Genesis 41
Joseph in Charge of Egypt
41 So Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I hereby put you in charge of the whole land of Egypt.” 42 Then Pharaoh took his signet ring from his finger and put it on Joseph’s finger. He dressed him in robes of fine linen and put a gold chain around his neck. 43 He had him ride in a chariot as his second-in-command,[b] and people shouted before him, “Make way[c]!” Thus he put him in charge of the whole land of Egypt.
44 Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I am Pharaoh, but without your word no one will lift hand or foot in all Egypt.” 45 Pharaoh gave Joseph the name Zaphenath-Paneah and gave him Asenath daughter of Potiphera, priest of On,[d] to be his wife. And Joseph went throughout the land of Egypt.
46 Joseph was thirty years old when he entered the service of Pharaoh king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from Pharaoh’s presence and traveled throughout Egypt. 47 During the seven years of abundance the land produced plentifully. 48 Joseph collected all the food produced in those seven years of abundance in Egypt and stored it in the cities. In each city he put the food grown in the fields surrounding it. 49 Joseph stored up huge quantities of grain, like the sand of the sea; it was so much that he stopped keeping records because it was beyond measure.
50 Before the years of famine came, two sons were born to Joseph by Asenath daughter of Potiphera, priest of On. 51 Joseph named his firstborn Manasseh[e] and said, “It is because God has made me forget all my trouble and all my father’s household.” 52 The second son he named Ephraim[f] and said, “It is because God has made me fruitful in the land of my suffering.”
53 The seven years of abundance in Egypt came to an end, 54 and the seven years of famine began, just as Joseph had said. There was famine in all the other lands, but in the whole land of Egypt there was food. 55 When all Egypt began to feel the famine, the people cried to Pharaoh for food. Then Pharaoh told all the Egyptians, “Go to Joseph and do what he tells you.”
56 When the famine had spread over the whole country, Joseph opened all the storehouses and sold grain to the Egyptians, for the famine was severe throughout Egypt. 57 And all the world came to Egypt to buy grain from Joseph, because the famine was severe everywhere.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Oh LORD,
Our One And Only God,
How Excellent,
How Wonderful,
and How Holy is Your Name!
You Alone Are Worthy Of Our Praise And Worship,
For Your Alone Are The Eternal,
Omnipotent, Omniscient Creator Of All Things!
The Nations Who Rage Against You
Are dust on the scales of Infinity,
Who are they to stand against Your Holy, Eternal Word?
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

In the Cold War Era movie "The Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming", Lt. Rosanov (played by Alan Arkin) has tied up Walt Whitiker (Carl Reiner) and says to him:
"Be absolutely good behaved, Vitiker Valt. Othervise zere is Vorld Var Three and everybody is blaming YOU!"
The look on Reiner's face is priceless. Nobody wants to go down in history as the person who caused a huge disaster. It's not always a good thing to be famous. It is even worse to be INfamous.
The Ancient Egyptians were marvelous sculptors. Their style is so unique that it is instantly recognized in whatever context it appears. And yet, the features of the individuals portrayed seem to be mostly alike. Very few are recognizable as actual people, except perhaps the renegade King Akhenaten, whose physical deformaties were difficult to idealize. (His wife Nefertiti, however, is considered by many to be the most beautiful woman that ever lived. Go Figure.) Anyway, the Egyptians thought that Pharaoh was a reincarnation of the God Osiris, and so he was usually depicted to look like Osiris rather than the actual person sitting on the throne.
As the Embodiment of Osiris, Pharaoh had an annual job to do. Since Osiris was the God of Springtime and Rebirth, as well as Fertility, it was his job to control the rise and fall of the River Nile, the germination of crops, and the prevention of famine. Pharoah's dreams must have struck terror in his his heart. It was as if the whole nation would be saying:
"WE GAVE YOU ONE JOB TO DO!!!"
Then Joseph comes along and interprets the dreams, which confirms Pharaoh's deepest fear. Such a disaster during his reign would surely bring him down, as everybody would be blaming HIM.
The Egyptians had an interesting way of writing history, though. If a king failed, his image and signature would be erased from the record. This wasn't easy, because the records were in stone. But, whatever can be sculpted can also be vandalized, and that's what they did. To this day, we have no idea what the name of the Pharaoh was during the time of Joseph. Now, there is speculation that Josph's name could have been rendered in Egyptian as Hotep, and that name shows up a lot. In fact one of the most important characters in Ancient Egypt was a brilliant man named "Imhotep", who was a high official, advisor to the king, artist, physician, and architect.
Another Pharaoh whose name has been lost to History is the Pharaoh of the Exodus. While movies portray him as "Rameses", no record of him exists in stone. The probable reason for this is the systematic erasure of the names of kings who brought shame and defeat to their nation. Better to be not remembered at all than to be remembered for evil was the philosophy I guess.
Even the first Chapter of Exodus indicates that this kind of revision of History was going on, as it tells of "A New Pharoah Who Didn't Know Joseph". This was 400 years later than our story today. A lot can happen in 400 years.
None of these people woud be remembered today if it weren't for the Torah. Thank God for His Holy Word!

Psalm 1
1 Happy are those
who do not follow the advice of the wicked,
or take the path that sinners tread,
or sit in the seat of scoffers;
2 but their delight is in the law of the Lord,
and on his law they meditate day and night.
3 They are like trees
planted by streams of water,
which yield their fruit in its season,
and their leaves do not wither.
In all that they do, they prosper.
4 The wicked are not so,
but are like chaff that the wind drives away.
5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgement,
nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous;
6 for the Lord watches over the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked will perish.
