Kentucky Supreme Court Blocks Enforcement of State’s Pro-Life Law

The state was back in court today after losing at the highest court in Kentucky.

FRANKFORT, Kentucky (LifeSiteNews) — Kentucky’s Supreme Court blocked a request by the attorney general to allow enforcement of the Human Life Protection Act.

Attorney General Daniel Cameron had appealed to the state’s highest court to allow him to begin enforcing the law, which “prohibits abortion in most circumstances,” according to a legal advisory he released June 24 when the federal Supreme Court reversed Roe v. Wade. The law “states that no person may knowingly cause or aid in ‘the termination of the life of an unborn human being.'”

The Jefferson County Circuit Court, which originally placed a temporary restraining order on the law, held hearings today as part of the ongoing lawsuit against it.

“The Supreme Court’s decision to continue delaying enforcement of Kentucky’s Human Life Protection Act and Heartbeat Law is disappointing,” Cameron tweeted yesterday. “We’ve now asked all three levels of Kentucky’s judiciary to allow these laws to take effect. Not a single judge at any level has suggested these laws are unconstitutional, yet we are unfortunately still prohibited from enforcing them.”

It’s amazing. We on the pro-life side won a decisive victory at the SCOTUS level, and yet left-leaning judges are now busy manufacturing their own state-level “mini Roes.” It’s truly insane, but I guess no one ever said restoring protections for the unborn was going to be easy. It may take pro-life amendments to state constitutions in some places in order to get this done.

Still better than ‘one court’ ruling all. If dumbs had their way, that’s what it would be.

It seems like this is a matter for the legislature, not the Supreme Court of Kentucky. If voters don’t like the law they can elect different people who will change the law.

It’s downright disgusting that so many want the right to butcher babies. I don’t get it.

If their ruling is arbitrary then their ruling is unconstitutional.

On what grounds?

The courts cannot invent rights.

That’s what the Supreme Court just said.

There is ZERO chance the supreme court will let state COURTS have the final say on this.

Eventually this will all play out and the SC will slap down all these state courts.

This one is easy.

Enforce it anyway and ignore the court.

Like the liberal/commie/prognazis do when it doesn’t go their way.

Time to play their game and make them suck on it.

Are the judges elected or appointed? If elected, vote them out, if appointed, impeach them

Lower courts overruling the Supreme Court is a much bigger threat to our democracy than a few rowdy protesters on J6.

Also, federal officials ignoring the Supreme Court rulings as well.

Do you think the other side would not try these delaying actions? Not likely.

In direction violation of a Supreme Court ruling. I can't see them getting away with it.

If only good people had control of the legislatures again. These lawless activist judges could all be impeached.

This is not a ruling I would follow — the U.S. Supreme Court says differently.

Jefferson County is Louisville. (I know that from when I was stationed at Fort Knox.)
