Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Genesis 35
The Deaths of Rachel and Isaac
16 Then they moved on from Bethel. While they were still some distance from Ephrath, Rachel began to give birth and had great difficulty. 17 And as she was having great difficulty in childbirth, the midwife said to her, “Don’t despair, for you have another son.” 18 As she breathed her last—for she was dying—she named her son Ben-Oni.[h] But his father named him Benjamin.[i]
19 So Rachel died and was buried on the way to Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem). 20 Over her tomb Jacob set up a pillar, and to this day that pillar marks Rachel’s tomb.
21 Israel moved on again and pitched his tent beyond Migdal Eder. 22 While Israel was living in that region, Reuben went in and slept with his father’s concubine Bilhah, and Israel heard of it.
Jacob had twelve sons:
23 The sons of Leah:
Reuben the firstborn of Jacob,
Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar and Zebulun.
24 The sons of Rachel:
Joseph and Benjamin.
25 The sons of Rachel’s servant Bilhah:
Dan and Naphtali.
26 The sons of Leah’s servant Zilpah:
Gad and Asher.
These were the sons of Jacob, who were born to him in Paddan Aram.
27 Jacob came home to his father Isaac in Mamre, near Kiriath Arba (that is, Hebron), where Abraham and Isaac had stayed. 28 Isaac lived a hundred and eighty years. 29 Then he breathed his last and died and was gathered to his people, old and full of years. And his sons Esau and Jacob buried him.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father in Heaven,
Magnified and Sanctified is Your Most Holy Name!
How We Love You,
With Our Whole Heart,
Our Whole Soul,
Our Whole Mind,
and Our Whole Strength!
For Only You Are Worthy To Be Praised and Worshiped.
Only You Are Holy,
Almighty, and Eternal!
The Nations are Merely Dust To You,
And We, The Work of Your Hands,
Must Bow Our Heads in Worship and Admiration,
and Awe at Your Great Glory!
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

Genesis 35
The Deaths of Rachel and Isaac
16 Then they moved on from Bethel. Easter Lilies are forced by Florists to bloom in time for Easter, which is always in the Springtime. After a burst of glory on an altar or centerpiece, the withered stalks are usually discarded, plastic pot and all. However, Easter Lilies are a Summer-Blooming Perennial, and, every year, I would dig a hole and stick the withered contents of the plastic pot into my tiny front yard. I've been doing this for the six years that I have lived here. Every year, at least one will straggle to the surface and produce one or two flowers. Not very productive, but, let's face it, those Easter Lilies had a rough life. Forced into bloom, displayed for one weekend, and then discarded. Oh Well.
Early this Spring, when I was mulching the garden, I noticed that all six of the Easter Lilies were trying to make their way though the soil. Some even had more than one stem. OK...so maybe I'll have more than one flower this year. Awesome! Meanwhile, the Daffodils bloomed and died, the Tulips followed suit, along with the Rhododendrons and Lilacs, which were especially nice this year. Summer became hot and dry, and the green Easter Lily stalks kept getting taller. Then, a week ago today, on the day I learned of my Nephew's tragic death, the Lilies burst into bloom...at least two to each stem., and all at the same time. They have lasted all week, because they are blooming naturally, at the correct time of year, and not being forced. It gave me hope that my Nephew is in the Arms of his Risen Savior, even as we speak. It has been a horrible week, but ... those LILIES!
Jacob has had a tough week as well. In this brief Passage of Scripture, we learn of his beloved Rachel dying in childbirth while they were "on the road". Now he has a new baby with no mother. Then he finds out that his eldest son has been sleeping with one of his concubines, and thus bringing shame to his firstborn. Then his father Isaac dies on top of everything else.
But there are some "lilies" in the ground, just waiting. Rachel's first son Joseph would go on to save the Nation and much of the Civilized World from starvation. Since Simeon and Levi disgraced themselves in that incident with the Hivites, and now with Reuban acting dishonorably, the Birthright goes to Leah's fourth son, Judah. Judah was to become the Ancestor of King David, King Solomon, and, eventually, the Messiah.
The passing of Isaac brought Jacob and Esau together one more time, for his burial in the Cave of Machpelia. Esau would go on to be considered the Ancestor of the Edomites, who will figure prominently into the Story of Israel (both for good and for bad.)
I just went out and counted the Easter Lilies. There are 15 of them and more on the way. The LORD giveth, and the LORD taketh away. Blessed Be His Name.
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

Psalm 46
To the leader. Of the Korahites. According to Alamoth. A Song.
1 God is our refuge and strength,
a very present* help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change,
though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea;
3 though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble with its tumult.
Selah
4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
the holy habitation of the Most High.
5 God is in the midst of the city;* it shall not be moved;
God will help it when the morning dawns.
6 The nations are in an uproar, the kingdoms totter;
he utters his voice, the earth melts.
7 The Lord of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our refuge.*
Selah
8 Come, behold the works of the Lord;
see what desolations he has brought on the earth.
9 He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;
he breaks the bow, and shatters the spear;
he burns the shields with fire.
10 ‘Be still, and know that I am God!
I am exalted among the nations,
I am exalted in the earth.’
11 The Lord of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our refuge.*

As she breathed her last—for she was dying—she named her son Ben-Oni.[h] But his father named him Benjamin.[i]
I’ve heard this was prophetic of another birth at Bethlehem/ Jesus. Ben-Oni, son of sorrow, He was a man sorrow and took our sin. Benjamin, son of my right hand, He ascended to the right hand of God, interceding for us.
Joining in prayer, left that other site, for the Peace of Jerusalem and for our beloved America.
Condolences for your loss and comfort for your grief over the death of a loved one.
