Federal television should produce more programs that "foster a taste for beauty," now it is "full of vulgar and talentless" programs that promote the occult, which, according to the Russian Orthodox Church, affects children, said Fr. Fedor Lukyanov, chairman of the Patriarchal Commission for Family, Maternity and Childhood Protection, to RIA Novosti.
Earlier, Russian Investigative Committee Chairman Alexander Bastrykin told RIA Novosti that the Investigative Committee suggests limiting the showing of scenes of violence and cruelty, "manifestations of immorality and debauchery" on federal TV channels, and excluding talk shows and reality shows that desocialize young people.
"The experts of the Patriarchal Commission support this initiative" Fr. Fedor said.
He reminded that mass media is not only capable of "being a mirror of public processes, but it also forms norms of behavior and perception of reality," and stressed that this is especially true for young people.

Iceland used to turn off commercial television one day a week, Wednesday, I think. They encouraged people to get a book and read.
In the 80s I was in Sweden, and the tv hours were quite limited
But they showed uncensored Bo Derek movies
Well, Bo Derek is not overtly occult, but bouncing on the beach would be rather distracting and problematic to some. (A temptation to some deadly sins or other!)
