Pope Francis Told Bishop Bätzing: We Don’t Need 2 Evangelical Churches in Germany

VATICAN CITY — Pope Francis said in an interview published on Tuesday that he told the leader of Germany’s Catholic bishops that the country already had “a very good Evangelical Church” and “we don’t need two.”

The Pope recalled his remark to Bishop Georg Bätzing, chairman of the German bishops’ conference, during a conversation with the editors of Jesuit Magazine journals.

The dialogue, which also touched on the war in Ukraine and opposition to Vatican II, was published in La Civiltà Cattolica on June 14 but was conducted on May 19.

The Pope was asked what he thought of the German “Synodal Way,” a controversial multi-year gathering of bishops and lay people to discuss four main topics: the way power is exercised in the Church; the priesthood; the role of women; and sexual morality.

Participants have voted in favor of draft documents calling for the priestly ordination of women, same-sex blessings, and changes to Church teaching on homosexual acts, prompting accusations of heresy and fears of schism.

The Evangelical Church in Germany, a federation of 20 Lutheran, Reformed, and United regional churches, ordains women as priests and bishops and permits the blessing of same-sex unions.

Both the Catholic Church and the Evangelical Church in Germany are seeing an exodus of members.

Pope Francis told the editors: “To the president of the German Episcopal Conference, Bishop Bätzing, I said: ‘In Germany, there is a very good Evangelical Church. We don’t need two.’”

“The problem arises when the synodal path comes from the intellectual, theological elites, and is much influenced by external pressures. There are some dioceses where the synodal way is being developed with the faithful, with the people, slowly.”

Bergoglio chastised Batcrazy with a wink of his eye. The apostate pope wants non-practicing Catholics, Catholics living in mortal sin, homos, non-Catholics, heretics, and others from the "peripheries", not just "the faithful" to participate in his own "Sin-Nod". He's the pope: if he had a problem with Batcrazy and his German Sin-Nod, he could shut it down in a day and demand Batcrazy's resignation for insubordination.

Instead, Bergoglio is letting the German Sin-Nod proceed; it's a trial ballon for his own evil Sin-Nod.

The home of Martin Luther needs to kick the Catholic Church out.

For the long stated reasons.

Germany is a mission field.

Unfortunately, with Bergoglio, Rome is now a mission field.

No, they just need a Reformation. A clearly written direction to go and a list of things that need changed. And to make sure everyone gets the memo, nail it to the Church door where they enter.

Does the fake Pope know that Protestants really don’t care about his opinion? Such “pontificating” just looks creepy.
Why is Rome so obsessed with Protestants? Protestants really don’t walk around delving into Catholic issues.

It’s like an ex-girlfriend who can’t accept the breakup.

The Protestant churches have already collapsed! For crying out loud, didn’t you read that article about the Lutheran Church’s first transgender bishop?

Yeah, and that would be the second place to hang a door proclamation. The whole country needs an evangelization.

‘In Germany, there is a very good Evangelical Church.”

Many a truth said in jest. Bergoglio is pretending that he’s saying, “Hey, don’t copy the liberal protestants.” But by every metric and in nearly every way, the man seems hellbent on copying them in their apostasy at every turn. The reality is that he does think that liberal, apostate model is “very good.”

Oh, your referring to the lunatic who thought that after 1,500 years of God’s church in practice that he would correct God’s errors and start his own heretical sect which now encompasses over 40,000 Protestant sects, each with us own interpretation of the partial Bible they use.

No one ever bragged about your intellect I bet...

They seem to (*cough!*) do so pretty frequently here.

. . . Not that there's anything wrong with that!

If you are referring to the pedo priest problem, that seems to be across the board in all denomination as far as I can tell. I don’t think the Catholics have a lock on that.

Pope Marx seems to be more than a bit of a heretic.

“Pope Marx seems to be more than a bit of a heretic.”

I suppose with your lack of theological knowledge it may appear so. He is not heretical.
