Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Genesis 18
The Three Visitors
18 The Lord appeared to Abraham near the great trees of Mamre while he was sitting at the entrance to his tent in the heat of the day. 2 Abraham looked up and saw three men standing nearby. When he saw them, he hurried from the entrance of his tent to meet them and bowed low to the ground.
3 He said, “If I have found favor in your eyes, my lord,[a] do not pass your servant by. 4 Let a little water be brought, and then you may all wash your feet and rest under this tree. 5 Let me get you something to eat, so you can be refreshed and then go on your way—now that you have come to your servant.”
“Very well,” they answered, “do as you say.”
6 So Abraham hurried into the tent to Sarah. “Quick,” he said, “get three seahs[b] of the finest flour and knead it and bake some bread.”
7 Then he ran to the herd and selected a choice, tender calf and gave it to a servant, who hurried to prepare it. 8 He then brought some curds and milk and the calf that had been prepared, and set these before them. While they ate, he stood near them under a tree.
9 “Where is your wife Sarah?” they asked him.
“There, in the tent,” he said.
10 Then one of them said, “I will surely return to you about this time next year, and Sarah your wife will have a son.”
Now Sarah was listening at the entrance to the tent, which was behind him. 11 Abraham and Sarah were already very old, and Sarah was past the age of childbearing. 12 So Sarah laughed to herself as she thought, “After I am worn out and my lord is old, will I now have this pleasure?”
13 Then the Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Will I really have a child, now that I am old?’ 14 Is anything too hard for the Lord? I will return to you at the appointed time next year, and Sarah will have a son.”
15 Sarah was afraid, so she lied and said, “I did not laugh.”
But he said, “Yes, you did laugh.”

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father in Heaven,
How Hallowed,
Magnificent,
and Sanctified
is Your Most Holy Name!
How Blessed and How True is Your Word,
and How Mighty!
How Glorious,
to Span the Millennia,
To be Unfettered by Time and Space,
To Know The End from the Beginning
and the beginning from The End!
For it is You, Oh LORD,
Who designed the Galaxies with Your Compass,
And Mapped Out the Vast Reaches of Space
With Your Word and Your Omniscient Imagination!
Scientists tell us even the heavens are finite.
But YOU are Infinite!
LORD, remind us ALWAYS to Worship You,
and not Your Creation.
Your creation is there but to proclaim YOUR GLORY.
Hallelujah and Amen.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

2005 was a brutal year for Hurricanes in Broward County, Florida. We had a few minor ones and then Katrina hit us on her way to New Orleans. Every storm that was predicted necessitated the installation of the heavy aluminum hurricane shutters, which had sharp edges and were attached with wing nuts onto screws that had expanded and changed position with the weather. After the storm had passed, the shutters needed to be removed, as they encased the house like a tomb, and the HOA demanded that they be un-installed after each storm had passed. Most years required only one installalation, and some, not at all. But 2005 was different.
After they came down after Katrina, they went up again for Rita, down again, and then up again for Wilma. (note: "Wilma" begins with the letter "W". That means we were at the end of the English Alphabet, and there were more hurricanes to come.) With the interior of our home as dark as the Great Pyramid, we hunkered down and waited for the CAT 3 storm.
For nearly 20 hours, the wind roared around the house. There was, of course, no electricity (it would not be restored for another four weeks), and we lived in darkness. I couldn't even practice the piano, because my piano was electric!
During the calm eye of the storm, the women of the neighborhood ventured out in Mu'uMu'us and flip flops to clear the drains and catch-basins so that the neighborhood would not be flooded. Then the wind picked up again, and we all rushed to our houses so as not to be caught in the 135mph winds in the eyewall. Another dark, roaring, 10 hours passed, and then...silence. I tried to open the front door, but it was mostly blocked by a huge banyan tree that had toppled over in my front yard.
I squeezed the door open as best I could and looked towards the devastated street. Right down the middle of the street came a group of Jamaican Youths, stripped to the waist and carrying machetes. The sun glistened on thier black skin and the shiny steel of their knives as they headed straight for me.
My first instinct was to pull the door shut and lock it, but something stopped me...and I just stood there. The one who seemed to be a leader said:
"Where you want us to put dis tree, Mama? We cut it up for you."
When I said I didn't have any money to pay them, he responded:
"Did I ask you for money, Mama? Now where you want dis tree to go?"
Speechless, I pointed to a spot in the yard, and the Youths went at the tree with machetes until it was a neat pile of wood. I just stood there and wept, and I feel tears coming to my eyes as I type this story.
In the Book of Hebrews, we are urged to be hospitable to strangers, as we may be entertaining "angels, unaware". In this Chapter of Genesis, we see Abraham running out to greet the strangers, rather than waiting in the doorway of his tent, as was the custom. Abraham doesn't assign a servant (and we KNOW he had servants) to make the strangers comfortable, but attends to these duties himself. The Three Visitors were angelic beings; all faiths agree upon that. However, Bible Scholars disagree on their actual identity. Some point to the Holy Name of The LORD (YHVH) in the opening verse, and say that at least one of the "angels" was YHVH Himself. Others say that it was a Pre-Incarnate Manifestation of The Son. In the former this would be called a Theophany, and in the latter, a Christophany. Some say it was a Manifestation of The Holy Trinity, but since two of the "Angels" continue onward to rescue Lot in Sodom, that particular theory doesn't seem correct to me. Yet, in Eastern Orthodox Iconography, the Three Visitors are shown as The Holy Trinity, and have been the Canon for the depiction of this story for hundreds of years.
One thing is for sure, these weren't three ordinary strangers!

Psalm 12
To the leader: according to The Sheminith. A Psalm of David.
1 Help, O Lord, for there is no longer anyone who is godly;
the faithful have disappeared from humankind.
2 They utter lies to each other;
with flattering lips and a double heart they speak.
3 May the Lord cut off all flattering lips,
the tongue that makes great boasts,
4 those who say, ‘With our tongues we will prevail;
our lips are our own—who is our master?’
5 ‘Because the poor are despoiled, because the needy groan,
I will now rise up,’ says the Lord;
‘I will place them in the safety for which they long.’
6 The promises of the Lord are promises that are pure,
silver refined in a furnace on the ground,
purified seven times.
7 You, O Lord, will protect us;
you will guard us from this generation for ever.
8 On every side the wicked prowl,
as vileness is exalted among humankind.

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH FOR THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM! And for the Preservation of the Valiant Israeli Nation!
| _ | ND the LORD appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day;
And he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent, and bowed himself toward the ground, |
And said, My Lord, if now I have found favour in thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant:
Let a little water, I pray you, be fetched, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree:
And I will fetch a morsel of bread, and comfort ye your hearts; after that ye shall pass on: for therefore are ye come to your servant. And they said, So do, as thou hast said.
And Abraham hastened into the tent unto Sarah, and said, Make ready quickly three measures of fine meal, knead it, and make cakes upon the hearth.
And Abraham ran unto the herd, and fetcht a calf tender and good, and gave it unto a young man; and he hasted to dress it.
And he took butter, and milk, and the calf which he had dressed, and set it before them; and he stood by them under the tree, and they did eat.
And they said unto him, Where is Sarah thy wife? And he said, Behold, in the tent.
And he said, I will certainly return unto thee according to the time of life; and, lo, Sarah thy wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard it in the tent door, which was behind him.
Now Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken in age; and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women.
Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?
And the Lord said unto Abraham, Wherefore did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a surety bear a child, which am old?
Is any thing too hard for the Lord? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.
Then Sarah denied, saying, I laughed not; for she was afraid. And he said, Nay; but thou didst laugh.
