I

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Genesis 12

The Call of Abram

12 The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.

2  “I will make you into a great nation,
    and I will bless you;
I will make your name great,
    and you will be a blessing.[a]

3  I will bless those who bless you,
    and whoever curses you I will curse;
and all peoples on earth
    will be blessed through you.”[b]

4 So Abram went, as the Lord had told him; and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Harran. 5 He took his wife Sarai, his nephew Lot, all the possessions they had accumulated and the people they had acquired in Harran, and they set out for the land of Canaan, and they arrived there.

6 Abram traveled through the land as far as the site of the great tree of Moreh at Shechem. At that time the Canaanites were in the land. 7 The Lord appeared to Abram and said, “To your offspring[c] I will give this land.” So he built an altar there to the Lord, who had appeared to him.

8 From there he went on toward the hills east of Bethel and pitched his tent, with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east. There he built an altar to the Lord and called on the name of the Lord.

9 Then Abram set out and continued toward the Negev.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Oh LORD,
Our God,
How Excellent is Your Name Over All The Earth!
How Wonderful You Are,
How Holy and Righteous and Just in Your Judgments!
You Alone Are Worthy To Be Praised,
For You Alone Are The One True God!

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

_______________________________________________________

Due to the tragic, sudden death of my beloved niece some years ago, my brother and his wife officially adopted her two boys. Now, my brother and his wife are in their mid-sixties and the grandsons are teenagers, with all that entails. They are terrific kids, and are doing great, but parenting in our later middle aged years is not easy. There is a reason God designed our childbearing years to be in our youth, when we are young and strong. As we age, and we become less resilient, it is time for our kids to bless us with grandchildren, and be there for us when we need them.

Unfortunately, in today's world, parents often are tasked with caring for their adult children well into their later youth and early middle age. Then they are often tasked with the full-time raising of their grandchildren as well. Whether it is due to the Economy, the Culture, Politics, or Society, there has been a profound change in the Family Structure in America, and I fear it is not for the better. In any case, Thank God for Grandparents. If it weren't for them, the whole system would probably fall apart.

Until the last century or so, Children were considered a blessing. Even among the poor, children could work on the farm and contribute to the family, and provide for their parents in their old age. Large families were encouraged, and parents were expected to stay together "for the sake of the children". A "childless couple" was considered unfortunate. Now, this viewpoint is considered obsolete.

In 1968, there was an influential book called "The Population Bomb". This book excoriated large families and predicted total worldwide famine in the 1970's. As late as 2008, the authors of the book defended their position even though the years had proven them to be totally wrong in their predictions. This is so similar to the "Global Warming" Hoax that has been perpetrated upon the world since the mid-eighties. Predictions keep falling through and proven wrong, so the theories are revised and re-perpetrated.

Genesis Chapter 12 gives us God's Promise to Abraham that he will become the Father of Many Nations. Indeed, to this day, a huge population of Jews, Arabs, Christians, Muslims, and others trace their lineage (either physically or spiritually) to Abraham, either through his sons Ishmael or Isaac.

The problem was, when this Promise was made, both Abram and Sarai were well past their child-rearing years, and had remained childless all their lives. They were city-folk who had a nice thing going in Ur of the Chaldees, which was a cosmopolitan center of commerce and pagan religion. It is implied that Abram and Sarai were well-off, and that any change would be a hardship. And yet, God called Abram out of his cushy situation with a Promise that seemed impossible. Abram believed God, in this very first test of his faith. There would be a lot more to come!

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Psalm 65

To the leader. A Psalm of David. A Song.

1 Praise is due to you,
O God, in Zion;
and to you shall vows be performed,
2 O you who answer prayer!
To you all flesh shall come.
3 When deeds of iniquity overwhelm us,
you forgive our transgressions.
4 Happy are those whom you choose and bring near
to live in your courts.
We shall be satisfied with the goodness of your house,
your holy temple.

5 By awesome deeds you answer us with deliverance,
O God of our salvation;
you are the hope of all the ends of the earth
and of the farthest seas.
6 By your* strength you established the mountains;
you are girded with might.
7 You silence the roaring of the seas,
the roaring of their waves,
the tumult of the peoples.
8 Those who live at earth’s farthest bounds are awed by your signs;
you make the gateways of the morning and the evening shout for joy.

9 You visit the earth and water it,
you greatly enrich it;
the river of God is full of water;
you provide the people with grain,
for so you have prepared it.
10 You water its furrows abundantly,
settling its ridges,
softening it with showers,
and blessing its growth.
11 You crown the year with your bounty;
your wagon tracks overflow with richness.
12 The pastures of the wilderness overflow,
the hills gird themselves with joy,
13 the meadows clothe themselves with flocks,
the valleys deck themselves with grain,
they shout and sing together for joy.
