If I recall, there is a bit in there about not changing ONE WORD.
Angels are persons. Are we supposed to fish for them too?
Estupido.
A new Spanish version of the Roman Catholic Bible is ditching the word “man” for “person.”
I’m of the impression that before Eve was formed, “Adam” did not have a penis. No need. ANd I believe he represented “mankind”, not a particular sex/gender, since there was no human sex/gender.
But then, I tend to treat the whole thing metaphore anyway. But I have always seen “fishers of men” to Fishers of people”
The word translated into the english “man” is strongs 444. Within the context of its usage in Matthew 4:19, “mankind” seems to be the better tranlsation than “man”.
This is a great resource to work out stuff like this:

I vote for “fishers of hombres”.
Another example of how some people feel compelled to be politically correct.
The word “man” in this context refers to all people, not just literally males. I think we all know that.
I recall Justin Trudeau once said we have to say “peoplekind” instead of “mankind” because apparently to that mindset, saying mankind is offensive to women.
Really, I think some people have too much time on their hands, if this sort of nonsense offends their sensibilities.
These people can’t comprehend “The Ascent of Man” by Jacob Bronowski because they will quibble about, what does he mean by “man”? What about women? Heck, what about the over 50 different gender identities discovered so far, and how do they fit into all of this?
The German version is using “fisher of fags” 🤪
I like fishers of El Guapo.
Basque name?

Gogeaskoetxea said the original Greek text does not include gender for "anthropos," so the translation should also reflect a lack of gender with either "person or human being."
So, is Jesus now the "Son of a Person"?
...then it’s no longer a Catholic edition.
And are they gonna take every masculine form of words english, Greek and Hebrew and change them too?
The seven “extra” books of the Old Testament are considered part of the Bible not only by Catholics, but by all Christians other than Protestants, as far as I know...definitely by the Eastern Orthodox churches and by the Coptic Church and Ethiopian church.
On the face of it, I don’t have a problem with this, as the Bible was obviously written to all mankind, not just men. (It’s hard to believe there are still neanderthals who think women are not to be included in Bible interpretation, but unfortunately, there are). However, since this may, instead of making THAT point, be an effort to make the Bible “woke”, I would object to THAT goal.
Obviously, Jesus was a sexist, and the Bible verse MUST be changed to "the Child of Person."
Maybe even "of Personx."
Regards,
Oh, good grief.
