Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Revelation 21

The New Jerusalem, the Bride of the Lamb

9 One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.” 10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God. 11 It shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal. 12 It had a great, high wall with twelve gates, and with twelve angels at the gates. On the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of Israel. 13 There were three gates on the east, three on the north, three on the south and three on the west. 14 The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

15 The angel who talked with me had a measuring rod of gold to measure the city, its gates and its walls. 16 The city was laid out like a square, as long as it was wide. He measured the city with the rod and found it to be 12,000 stadia[c] in length, and as wide and high as it is long. 17 The angel measured the wall using human measurement, and it was 144 cubits[d] thick.[e] 18 The wall was made of jasper, and the city of pure gold, as pure as glass. 19 The foundations of the city walls were decorated with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald, 20 the fifth onyx, the sixth ruby, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth turquoise, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst.[f] 21 The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city was of gold, as pure as transparent glass.

22 I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. 23 The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. 24 The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it. 25 On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there. 26 The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it. 27 Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father,
Who Art in Heaven,
How Blessed,
How Glorious,
How Wonderful,
Is Your Most Holy Name!
How Mighty and Perfect is Your Word,
And Your Promise,
Which You have allowed us a glimpse
Into Your Perfect Will!
You, The Everlasting,
The Omnipotent,
The Immortal and Eternal,
Not Bound By Time or Space,
Because You Created it,
Your Ways are not our ways,
And yet we hunger and thirst for You,
like a thirsty little deer panting in the forest,
seeking a bubbling spring for a fresh sip of water!

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

Just yesterday, I brought a bunch of records to a Men's Clothing Shop that also consigns records and musical instruments. I have had a wonderful five-year relationship with Ian, the proprietor, consigning Vinyl, Rock Memorabilia, and Musical Instruments. It is not only a hobby, but supplements my income. Yesterday, Ian informed me that he will still be taking the Records and Instruments, but no more men's clothing. He is changing it over to Men's Formal Wear. This is a wise move, because the place was getting overrun with unsaleable items that belonged in a Thrift Store rather than a Consignment Shop. I said that this was a smart busiess decision, and that Brides and Bridesmaids have been getting their gowns in Consignment Shops for years. Ian said that he got the idea when after what his "Groomsmen just went through getting Tuxedos for his upcoming wedding."

"You're getting MARRIED?" I exclaimed with delight. "Oh Ian, I am SO HAPPY for you!"

We continued talking about the upcoming wedding, his girlfriend's big family, Formal Wear, etc, and I found myself bubbling with joy for my friend. I don't even know the bride's name, nor have I ever met her, but the whole thing just filed me with happiness. I am smiling even as I type these words.

Jesus compares the relationship of Him and His People as a Marriage. Sadly, our culture has diminished the importance of marriage, except when it suits the political agenda. All types of "alternative" approaches to weddings and marriage have left the whole institution tattered and meaningless. Nearly half of marriages end in divorce, and people drift in and out of relationships with no sense of commitment or loyalty. It has become so pervasive, that Ian's announcement hit me totally by surprise.

In the Middle East, a bride is adorned with jewels. Heavy crowns of silver and gold, encrusted with pearls and precious stones, adorned her as she is presented to the groom. In John's Vision of The New Jerusalem, the city is described in that manner, with twelve foundations, each made from a different gemstone.

After experiencing yesterday's surprised joy at my friend's announcement, I can't even imagine the reaction of John of Patmos's response to this Vision! We do know from Scripture that he fell onto his face in Worship, which we will see in tomorrow's reading.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Psalm 26

Of David.

1 Vindicate me, O Lord,
for I have walked in my integrity,
and I have trusted in the Lord without wavering.
2 Prove me, O Lord, and try me;
test my heart and mind.
3 For your steadfast love is before my eyes,
and I walk in faithfulness to you.*

4 I do not sit with the worthless,
nor do I consort with hypocrites;
5 I hate the company of evildoers,
and will not sit with the wicked.

6 I wash my hands in innocence,
and go around your altar, O Lord,
7 singing aloud a song of thanksgiving,
and telling all your wondrous deeds.

8 O Lord, I love the house in which you dwell,
and the place where your glory abides.
9 Do not sweep me away with sinners,
nor my life with the bloodthirsty,
10 those in whose hands are evil devices,
and whose right hands are full of bribes.

11 But as for me, I walk in my integrity;
redeem me, and be gracious to me.
12 My foot stands on level ground;
in the great congregation I will bless the Lord.

Joining in prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem and for our beloved America.

I went to the reception of a Chinese wedding (the ritual was private, but the reception was with friends.)

The bride wore red and her dowry of gold jewelry.
