I
Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Revelation 18
Warning to Escape Babylon’s Judgment
4 Then I heard another voice from heaven say:
“‘Come out of her, my people,’[b]
so that you will not share in her sins,
so that you will not receive any of her plagues;
5 for her sins are piled up to heaven,
and God has remembered her crimes.
6 Give back to her as she has given;
pay her back double for what she has done.
Pour her a double portion from her own cup.
7 Give her as much torment and grief
as the glory and luxury she gave herself.
In her heart she boasts,
‘I sit enthroned as queen.
I am not a widow;[c]
I will never mourn.’
8 Therefore in one day her plagues will overtake her:
death, mourning and famine.
She will be consumed by fire,
for mighty is the Lord God who judges her.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Almighty God and Everlasting Father,
How Precious is Your Most Holy Name,
And How Sure and Certain Are Your Promises!
You Alone Are Worthy of Worship and Praise,
For You Alone Are The One True God,
Almighty and Eternal,
Glorious and Transcendent,
Rock of Ages,
Ancient of Days,
Lord of Hosts!
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

The excavation of Tel Meggido wasn't always an orderly, meticulous process that is the hallmark of responsible archaeology. Once upon a time, Treasure Hunters sliced through the hill like a layer cake and looted many artifacts, permanently scarring the site. The gash in the landscape is still there, and you can see how Meggido was conquered, destroyed, rebuilt, and again reduced to rubble many times in its history. On a strategic location at the nexus of trade routes, with a huge flat plain as far as the eye could see, Megiddo was the shininig city on the hill that begged warlords and kings to "Come and Get me!".
Napoleon had his crack at Megiddo, and stood atop the hill, gazing out at the plain below. It is reputed that Bonapart looked out over the plain and said it was the perfect place for the Epic Last Battle. He was right, for the huge plain has a name in Aramaic Har Meggido which is Armageddon to English Speakers.
All who speculate about the identity of Babylon in the Book of Revelation consistently aim too low. It is much bigger than Hollywood, Las Vegas, Washington DC, Brussels, Rome, or Mecca. There is even a reference to New York City in a song by Canadian Singer-Songwriter Bruce Cockburn:
"Let's have a laugh for the man of the world,
Who thinks he can make things work.
Tried to build The New Jerusalem,
And ended up with New York. Ha ha ha" (c Bruce Cockburn, The Laughing Song)
While all the great cities of the world (especially the ones that claim seven hills) qualify in one way or the other, Babylon remains a "Mystery". It is more likely that "Mystery Babylon" represents a System, in which all the great cities of the world participate. The system is Cultural, Economic, Religious, and Societal, and linked together by invisible chains. A war on one side of the planet affects gas prices on the other. An incompetent ruler in one country causes inflation and war in another. An evil scientist concocting a plague in one nation puts seven continents in lockdown. A snippy posting on social media two decades ago gets a prominent person blackballed for life...and so on. As it says in the Book of Danial,
4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased. (Danial 12 KJV)
Since the invention of such things as the airplane and the Internet, knowledge and travel have increased so much that everybody seems to know everything about everybody these days. Along with knowledge comes the desire of the evil one to control every decision everyone makes about everything. In my very humble opinion, based upon 40 years of observing life and reading the Bible, I respectfully submit that "Mystery Babylon" is rapidly becoming not such a "mystery" after all.

Psalm 72
Of Solomon
.
1 Give the king your justice, O God,
and your righteousness to a king’s son.
2 May he judge your people with righteousness,
and your poor with justice.
3 May the mountains yield prosperity for the people,
and the hills, in righteousness.
4 May he defend the cause of the poor of the people,
give deliverance to the needy,
and crush the oppressor.
5 May he live* while the sun endures,
and as long as the moon, throughout all generations.
6 May he be like rain that falls on the mown grass,
like showers that water the earth.
7 In his days may righteousness flourish
and peace abound, until the moon is no more.
8 May he have dominion from sea to sea,
and from the River to the ends of the earth.
9 May his foes* bow down before him,
and his enemies lick the dust.
10 May the kings of Tarshish and of the isles
render him tribute,
may the kings of Sheba and Seba
bring gifts.
11 May all kings fall down before him,
all nations give him service.
12 For he delivers the needy when they call,
the poor and those who have no helper.
13 He has pity on the weak and the needy,
and saves the lives of the needy.
14 From oppression and violence he redeems their life;
and precious is their blood in his sight.
15 Long may he live!
May gold of Sheba be given to him.
May prayer be made for him continually,
and blessings invoked for him all day long.
16 May there be abundance of grain in the land;
may it wave on the tops of the mountains;
may its fruit be like Lebanon;
and may people blossom in the cities
like the grass of the field.
17 May his name endure for ever,
his fame continue as long as the sun.
May all nations be blessed in him;*
may they pronounce him happy.
18 Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel,
who alone does wondrous things.
19 Blessed be his glorious name for ever;
may his glory fill the whole earth.Amen and Amen.
20 The prayers of David son of Jesse are ended.
