Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Revelation 9

9 The fifth angel sounded his trumpet, and I saw a star that had fallen from the sky to the earth. The star was given the key to the shaft of the Abyss. 2 When he opened the Abyss, smoke rose from it like the smoke from a gigantic furnace. The sun and sky were darkened by the smoke from the Abyss. 3 And out of the smoke locusts came down on the earth and were given power like that of scorpions of the earth. 4 They were told not to harm the grass of the earth or any plant or tree, but only those people who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads. 5 They were not allowed to kill them but only to torture them for five months. And the agony they suffered was like that of the sting of a scorpion when it strikes. 6 During those days people will seek death but will not find it; they will long to die, but death will elude them. 7 The locusts looked like horses prepared for battle. On their heads they wore something like crowns of gold, and their faces resembled human faces. 8 Their hair was like women’s hair, and their teeth were like lions’ teeth. 9 They had breastplates like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was like the thundering of many horses and chariots rushing into battle. 10 They had tails with stingers, like scorpions, and in their tails they had power to torment people for five months. 11 They had as king over them the angel of the Abyss, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon and in Greek is Apollyon (that is, Destroyer).

12 The first woe is past; two other woes are yet to come.

13 The sixth angel sounded his trumpet, and I heard a voice coming from the four horns of the golden altar that is before God. 14 It said to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, “Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates.” 15 And the four angels who had been kept ready for this very hour and day and month and year were released to kill a third of mankind. 16 The number of the mounted troops was twice ten thousand times ten thousand. I heard their number.

17 The horses and riders I saw in my vision looked like this: Their breastplates were fiery red, dark blue, and yellow as sulfur. The heads of the horses resembled the heads of lions, and out of their mouths came fire, smoke and sulfur. 18 A third of mankind was killed by the three plagues of fire, smoke and sulfur that came out of their mouths. 19 The power of the horses was in their mouths and in their tails; for their tails were like snakes, having heads with which they inflict injury.

20 The rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the work of their hands; they did not stop worshiping demons, and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood—idols that cannot see or hear or walk. 21 Nor did they repent of their murders, their magic arts, their sexual immorality or their thefts.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

Yesterday, I had the delight of a "Meet and Greet" with Tippy, the dog I am planning to adopt. It involved a long drive (by Massachusetts standards, anyway!) to the central part of the state, and, due to Boston's two beltways and spoke-like highway system, there was no direct route. While it was possible to take the Turnpike straight across, that involves going NORTH through the infamous Braintree Split, INTO the actual City to get onto the Mass Pike, or worse, all the way North into Newton, where all te roads were closed for The Boston Marathon. I knew from experience that Routes 9, 30, and 20 would be clogged up, all the way from Hopkington to Copley Square for 26 miles.

Just the day before, I had gone many miles to see my brother, and to fetch my motorcycle from his garage. His wife Diane was watchin the Red Sox on a big TV, and the Sox were wearing Blue and Yellow uniforms. She thought it was in support of the Ukraine, and remarked that it was weird that the Red Sox would have made all new uniforms just for that. I reminded her that it was Boston Marathon Day, and those same colors were the "Boston Strong" colors adopted after the Boston Marathon Bombing in 2013. "Oh! I get it!", she said. "They are the exact same colors!" I remarked that anyone who still had "Boston Strong" shirts and signs could wear them all year and still fit in with all the "Ukraine" shirts and signs. But, I digress. You will see the connection at the end.

As for my drive to the "Meet and Greet", I chose to take a southern spoke of the Hub, known as I95. It is the same I95 that goes to New York, DC, and Miami, so I knew it well. Somewhere in Rhode Island, a road branches North, and would take me to my destination, thouroughly avoiding the Boston Marathon. (I am SO clever). I estimated it to be about 6 miles out of my way, and 70 miles at most. It was mostly highway so I could drive fast. I gave myself an hour and a half and I ended up with 15 minutes to spare. I trusted in my Acadian/Micmac sense of direction, knowing that my ancestors walked from Nova Scotia to Louisiana, and I made a perfect trip with no mistakes.

The "Meet and Greet" session was awesome, and I have ascended to the next step in the adoption process. I planned to reverse my direction and go home the same way, but the road was divided with Jersey Barriers preventing any left turns. And so, I proceeded North.

I saw the exit to Route 30, the ACTUAL route of the Boston Marathon. No Way could I take that! Then I saw the Entrance to the Mass Pike. It was backed up forever, because all the Route 30 Traffic had been rerouted to it. Route 20 and Route 9 would be similar, I thought, but I was so far West that perhaps the crowds had dispersed. And so I took the benighted and infamous Route 9, a congested highway that is so bad I wrote a BLUES song about it back in the 1980's.

Route 9 was surprisingly clear for many miles, and I breezed through Worcester, Shrewsbury, Southboro, Marlboro, Framingham, and Natick. When I got to Wellesley, the traffic started bunching up, and there were Blue and Yellow flags everywhere. Sitting in stalled Traffic, I looked up at the overpass and saw an enormous stream of runners passing overhead, all wearing Blue and Yellow. It was an amazing sight. They were still running in my rear view mirror as I drove under the overpass, headed South on Route 128, so I could go North on 93, Navigating the Braintree Split to avoid Boston, and then going South on Route 3.

When a huge amount of people adopt a same uniform and have the same purpose, they are a formidable sight. Imagine the Vision of John, of an army of locusts with wild hair, flaming with smoke and sulphur, and stingers in their tails. He is given a number, 200 MILLION, which is a lot of people. The combined population of Greater Boston and all the towns I drove through yesterday is a little over 8 Million. All 8 Million were not at the Marathon, but even the tiny percentage of that in attendance was awesome to see. The fact that they all wore the same colors made it even more impressive.

John's Vision is beyond my imagination.

You may ask, "Where is the Prayer in this Chapter? Well, John may have asked the same thing. The clue appears in the last sentence. The Missing Prayer is one of Repentance. The PROBLEM is that nobody was praying it. It is as if the whole world is under a strong delusion.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
