I

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Revelation 7

144,000 Sealed

7 After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth to prevent any wind from blowing on the land or on the sea or on any tree. 2 Then I saw another angel coming up from the east, having the seal of the living God. He called out in a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm the land and the sea: 3 “Do not harm the land or the sea or the trees until we put a seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God.” 4 Then I heard the number of those who were sealed: 144,000 from all the tribes of Israel.

5 From the tribe of Judah 12,000 were sealed,

from the tribe of Reuben 12,000,

from the tribe of Gad 12,000,

6 from the tribe of Asher 12,000,

from the tribe of Naphtali 12,000,

from the tribe of Manasseh 12,000,

7 from the tribe of Simeon 12,000,

from the tribe of Levi 12,000,

from the tribe of Issachar 12,000,

8 from the tribe of Zebulun 12,000,

from the tribe of Joseph 12,000,

from the tribe of Benjamin 12,000.

The Great Multitude in White Robes

9 After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. 10 And they cried out in a loud voice:

“Salvation belongs to our God,
who sits on the throne,
and to the Lamb.”

11 All the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures. They fell down on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, 12 saying:

“Amen!
Praise and glory
and wisdom and thanks and honor
and power and strength
be to our God for ever and ever.
Amen!”

13 Then one of the elders asked me, “These in white robes—who are they, and where did they come from?”

14 I answered, “Sir, you know.”

And he said, “These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. 15 Therefore,

“they are before the throne of God
    and serve him day and night in his temple;
and he who sits on the throne
    will shelter them with his presence.

16  ‘Never again will they hunger;
    never again will they thirst.
The sun will not beat down on them,’[a]
    nor any scorching heat.

17  For the Lamb at the center of the throne
    will be their shepherd;
‘he will lead them to springs of living water.’[b]
    ‘And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.’[c]”

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Oh LORD, Our God,
How Excellent,
How Wonderful,
How Sanctified is Your Most Holy Name!
The Earth is Yours,
and Everything in it,
The Seas, the Mountains, the Plants, and Every Living Creature.
It Is You Who Created Them All,
And You Know Them All by name.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

_______________________________________________________

As may of you know, I had to put my beloved Pitbull Penny to sleep two weeks ago. I am now in the midst of the vetting process to adopt another doggie, but I know that there is NO "replacing" Penny. The new adoptee will be her own personality and a new adventure for both of us. I will be driving out to the Berkshires next week to "Meet and Greet" an adorable 2-year-old Aussie Shepherd/Cattle Dog Mix for the next step in the adoption sequence. It used to be that one could go to the Town Shelter and let the chemistry happen, but COVID has changed all that.

The vetting process is the most stringent I have ever encountered. Lest you think I am exaggerating, bear in mind that I have been investigated by the FBI to teach in the Miami/Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach County Public Schools, vetted for Firearms and Concealed Carry for the State of Florida, and Criminal Records Checked to teach in Massachusetts. I've been Photographed, Fingerprinted, and Pee-Tested. In none of these previous vettings have I been required to take a smart-phone around my home and yard, opening closets and cabinets, and describing where I keep all my cleaning supplies. LOL. That was a new one! Anyway, I have passed muster and am now in the final stages to "re-home" the dog. I suppose it's all for the best, since there are a LOT of evil people in the world.

My grief upon euthanizing Penny is very real. Since it is a decision that every responsible pet owner may have to face, there are many ways our society has developed to help people cope. The Vet arranged for Penny to be cremated, and delived her remains to me in a beautiful Ginger Jar, in a blue velvet bag. They also made a paw print in clay, encased in a black leather case, also delivered in blue velvet. The Vet has reached out to me with cards and emails, and I have been invited to a Grief-Counseling Group, which is lovely, but I don't think I need to go THAT far. I received a lot of Sympathy Cards designed specifically for the Loss of a Pet, and they were very sweet. I am overwhelmed by the kindness of my friends and family. (One of our Prayer Warriors is a Veteranarian, and she has been very supportive! )

What on earth does this have to do with Today's Reading from The Book of Revelation?

Many of the beautiful cards I received contained a poem called "The Rainbow Bridge". It is a poem of comfort for people who have lost a pet, and describes a heavenly place where dogs are reunited with their owners. It is not Biblical, but it is very comforting, and I can't read it without weeping. Since the Bible is clear that there ARE going to be animals in Heaven (Lions, Lambs, etc), it's not such a stretch that OUR animals could end up there too. Since Jesus redeemed the Whole Earth from the Curse of Sin and Death, the Animal Kingdom, which fell with Mankind, is also redeemed. Anyway, that's how I see it. Your views may differ, and that's OK too.

Today's Chapter startes out with a listing of the 144,000 Jewish Men who are Redeemed and Sealed. The number is a multiple of 12, which appears all through Scripture (12 Tribes, 12 Apostles, 24 Elders, etc) and these 144,000 are specifically named and numbered according to their Tribe. Certain sects say that these are the ONLY humans who will be in Heaven and the rest of the Believers will be living in a Paradise on Earth. But that is NOT what the Bible says! Following the Passage about the 144,000, is a picture of a "Great Multitude" or every race, color, nation, and language, waving palms and Praising God. The Chapter even gives us the Prayer they will be saying and singing:

“Salvation belongs to our God,
who sits on the throne,
and to the Lamb.”

Then we see the Four Living Creatures and all the Angels falling down in Worship:

“Amen!
Praise and glory
and wisdom and thanks and honor
and power and strength
be to our God for ever and ever.
Amen!”

Revelation is FULL of these kinds of Prayers. They are all rapturous Hymns of Praise, and are models for us as well.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Psalm 25

Of David.

1 To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul.
2 O my God, in you I trust;
do not let me be put to shame;
do not let my enemies exult over me.
3 Do not let those who wait for you be put to shame;
let them be ashamed who are wantonly treacherous.

4 Make me to know your ways, O Lord;
teach me your paths.
5 Lead me in your truth, and teach me,
for you are the God of my salvation;
for you I wait all day long.

6 Be mindful of your mercy, O Lord, and of your steadfast love,
for they have been from of old.
7 Do not remember the sins of my youth or my transgressions;
according to your steadfast love remember me,
for your goodness’ sake, O Lord!

8 Good and upright is the Lord;
therefore he instructs sinners in the way.
9 He leads the humble in what is right,
and teaches the humble his way.
10 All the paths of the Lord are steadfast love and faithfulness,
for those who keep his covenant and his decrees.

11 For your name’s sake, O Lord,
pardon my guilt, for it is great.
12 Who are they that fear the Lord?
He will teach them the way that they should choose.

13 They will abide in prosperity,
and their children shall possess the land.
14 The friendship of the Lord is for those who fear him,
and he makes his covenant known to them.
15 My eyes are ever towards the Lord,
for he will pluck my feet out of the net.

16 Turn to me and be gracious to me,
for I am lonely and afflicted.
17 Relieve the troubles of my heart,
and bring me* out of my distress.
18 Consider my affliction and my trouble,
and forgive all my sins.

19 Consider how many are my foes,
and with what violent hatred they hate me.
20 O guard my life, and deliver me;
do not let me be put to shame, for I take refuge in you.
21 May integrity and uprightness preserve me,
for I wait for you.

22 Redeem Israel, O God,
out of all its troubles.

I believe since God will resurrect humans, He could resurrect our beloved pets.

Our neighbor brought a feral kitten to us. We had her for 19 years. The day came to end her suffering and she was ready to go.

We had her cremated. The clinic gave a the Rainbow bridge poem with her paw print and snippet of her fur. And they sent us a sympathy card.

Losing a pet is losing someone close to you. We still talk about her.

Joining in prayer, left that other site, for the Peace of Jerusalem and for our beloved America.
