Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

2 John
7 I say this because many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist. 8 Watch out that you do not lose what we[a] have worked for, but that you may be rewarded fully. 9 Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. 10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not take them into your house or welcome them. 11 Anyone who welcomes them shares in their wicked work.
12 I have much to write to you, but I do not want to use paper and ink. Instead, I hope to visit you and talk with you face to face, so that our joy may be complete.
13 The children of your sister, who is chosen by God, send their greetings.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Almighty Father,
Who Art in Heaven,
How Blessed and Holy is Your Wonderful Name!
You Alone Are Worthy To be Praised and Worshiped,
For You Alone Are The One True God!
You Are The Beginning and the End,
The First and the Last,
Almighty,
Eternal,
All-Knowing and All-Seeing.
You Know the End from the Beginning and the Beginning From the End.
We, Your people, The Sheep of Your pasture, are finite,
small, and have no understanding of You,
except what You have given us in Your Holy Word.
We are overwhelmed with gratitude that You,
in Your Immortal Mercy,
have chosen to Grace us with this Glimpse into Your Heart!
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

Before I begin Today's Devotional, I want to thank everybody who expressed Sympathy and Comfort to me yesterday. Although I have had five dogs over the years, their passing never gets any easier. And, even though I loved them all, there was just something about Penny. Perhaps it was her quiet dignity and regal bearing that belied her "controversial" breed, or maybe it was the fact that she didn't even act like a dog. In the five and a half years that I have had her, she only barked five times, and each time it was just a single "woof". She was exceptionally good with my B-I-L, who suffers from Alzheimer's Disease, and was beloved of everyone in my neighborhood (except, of course, the other dogs!). I don't know if I will ever see her like again. Thank you all for your kind thoughts and prayers.
And now for Today's Story, which happened in the late 1950's in Boston, MA.
My Mom and her next-door neighbor Pauline were dear friends. Mom was very firm in her religion, while Pauline flitted from church to church, always seeking, but never seeming to find. Pauline loved Jesus though, and prominently displayed her HUGE King James Bible on the Coffee Table. (It was white leather, with the Salman "Head of Christ" picture on the cover.) Anyway, we lived in a little enclave in Mattapan (part of Boston) that we called "The Village". Since the Village was off the main road, but very safe and self-contained, it was a favorite haunt of religious groups that like to go door-to-door. They would park their van at the entrance and pour out several couples at least once a week during the summer time. When they approached Mom, she always said "No thank you, I am very happy with my own religion." Sometimes they gave her an argument, and other times they politely left.
Pauline, however, because she was unsure of what to believe, actually invited the people into her home. They stayed for HOURS haranguing the poor woman. Mom looked anxiously out her window at Pauline's house and fumed:
"They haven't left yet! Maybe I should go over and rescue Pauline from those guys! I can't believe she let them in her house!"
Finally they left. Mom rushed over to comfort Pauline and get the scoop on what had just happened.
Pauline had indeed invited the people in. But when they tried to tell her that Jesus wasn't "God" but just "a god", Pauline fought like a tiger. She grabbed her King James and pointed out the First Chapter of the Gospel of John. The visitors pulled out their version, which said differently. Then they argued about translations. After hours of this, the visitors left, frustrated and confused, and Pauline's faith was intact. Both Mom and Pauline had stood up for their Faith, but in different ways.
In 2nd John, John tells the Dear Lady of his Letter to not welcome anybody into her home who denies "The Father and The Son". Evidently what was going on in the First Century is still going on, to this very day.

Psalm 89 (38-52)
38 But now you have spurned and rejected him;
you are full of wrath against your anointed.
39 You have renounced the covenant with your servant;
you have defiled his crown in the dust.
40 You have broken through all his walls;
you have laid his strongholds in ruins.
41 All who pass by plunder him;
he has become the scorn of his neighbours.
42 You have exalted the right hand of his foes;
you have made all his enemies rejoice.
43 Moreover, you have turned back the edge of his sword,
and you have not supported him in battle.
44 You have removed the sceptre from his hand,*
and hurled his throne to the ground.
45 You have cut short the days of his youth;
you have covered him with shame.
Selah
46 How long, O Lord? Will you hide yourself for ever?
How long will your wrath burn like fire?
47 Remember how short my time is—*
for what vanity you have created all mortals!
48 Who can live and never see death?
Who can escape the power of Sheol?
Selah
49 Lord, where is your steadfast love of old,
which by your faithfulness you swore to David?
50 Remember, O Lord, how your servant is taunted;
how I bear in my bosom the insults of the peoples,*
51 with which your enemies taunt, O Lord,
with which they taunted the footsteps of your anointed.
52 Blessed be the Lord for ever.Amen and Amen.

I was just mentioning this morning how grateful I was for my mother’s bible. It was so beautiful, with pictures that so vividly told the stories of the Old Testament and the Gospel of Our LORD JESUS CHRIST. Even though I could not read yet, I knew the story. I mentioned to John that as of today, we have one grandson who has yet to see a Bible. Our other 3 are in the homes where GOD is honored and the Bible will be heard. I pray for this one grandson today, that he will not fall victim to the lies of this world, but will be drawn to the TRUTH even if it does not come from his home. GOD is FAITHFUL to HIS WORD and gracious to our prayers. Praying for the Peace of Jerusalem and the Salvation of Israel.
