Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father In Heaven,
Magnified and Sanctified
is Your Most Holy and Wonderful Name!
How Magnificent You Are,
How Glorious,
Righteous and Just!
For It is You Who Created Everything,
From the Vast Unimaginable Singularities in Space,
To the Minute Inner Workings
of My Own Synapses When I Dream!
You are Eternal,
And Forever Good.
There is No Shadow of turning With You.
Your Precepts and Promises Are Everlasting.
You Say It is So, and It Is So.

Let all that has been Concealed

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,

To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

1 Timothy 1

1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the command of God our Savior and of Christ Jesus our hope, 2 To Timothy my true son in the faith:

Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.

Today we begin reading the first of Paul's Letters to Timothy, a young disciple whom we first met in The Book of Acts, Chapter 16. Timothy's Mother and Grandmother were Jewish, but his father was a Greek, and so, Timothy had not been circumcised as an infant. Since Paul and Timothy were ministering to the Jewish Community at the time, Paul circumcised the youth out of courtesy and respect for the people that they were serving. This in no way negated the decision of the Jerusalem Council that declared that Gentile believers did not need to be circumcised. Paul was quite clear about that in a number of his letters.

Although Timothy was young, maybe a bit shy (1 Corinthians 16:10), and may have suffered from stomach issues (Paul suggested a daily glass of wine to help with that), he ended up being the Pastor in the Church in Ephesus. The two letters that Paul wrote were to encourage Timothy, and there is a lot said about prayer.

The Salutaion opens with a prayer for Grace, Mercy, and Peace. Those three qualities sound very similar, but they have different shades of meaning. Pastor Jerry(RIP) of my Biker Church in Florida put it this way:

Mercy is when God doesn't give me what I deserve.
Grace is when God gives me what I don't deserve.
and
Peace is the result of Both.
