Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

2 Thessalonians 2
Stand Firm
13 But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you as firstfruits[b] to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth. 14 He called you to this through our gospel, that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
15 So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the teachings[c] we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter.
16 May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, 17 encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Abba, Father, How Wonderful You Are!
And LORD, Our God,
How Excellent is Your Name Over All the Earth!
You Alone Are Worthy To be Praised,
For You Alone Are The One True God of The Universe.
We Thank You, Father, For Your Holy Word,
Which You have allowed to be preserved through Your People,
We Thank You for Revealing Your Secrets Through Your Word,
To those who have will have eyes to see, and ears to hear.
How Wonderful You Are,
How Holy and Righteous and Just in Your Judgments!
You Alone Are Worthy To Be Praised,
For You Alone Are The One True God!
LORD, You Are The ROCK
upon which we must rest our weary heads!
And We in America, and Israel,
Must Take this into our hearts.
And You Are The Only Rock On Which We May Stand.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

Psalm 81
To the leader: according to The Gittith. Of Asaph.
1 Sing aloud to God our strength;
shout for joy to the God of Jacob.
2 Raise a song, sound the tambourine,
the sweet lyre with the harp.
3 Blow the trumpet at the new moon,
at the full moon, on our festal day.
4 For it is a statute for Israel,
an ordinance of the God of Jacob.
5 He made it a decree in Joseph,
when he went out over* the land of Egypt.
I hear a voice I had not known:
6 ‘I relieved your* shoulder of the burden;
your* hands were freed from the basket.
7 In distress you called, and I rescued you;
I answered you in the secret place of thunder;
I tested you at the waters of Meribah.
Selah
8 Hear, O my people, while I admonish you;
O Israel, if you would but listen to me!
9 There shall be no strange god among you;
you shall not bow down to a foreign god.
10 I am the Lord your God,
who brought you up out of the land of Egypt.
Open your mouth wide and I will fill it.
11 ‘But my people did not listen to my voice;
Israel would not submit to me.
12 So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts,
to follow their own counsels.
13 O that my people would listen to me,
that Israel would walk in my ways!
14 Then I would quickly subdue their enemies,
and turn my hand against their foes.
15 Those who hate the Lord would cringe before him,
and their doom would last for ever.
16 I would feed you* with the finest of the wheat,
and with honey from the rock I would satisfy you.’

Yesterday, my sister and I went "Vinyl-Hunting" at a huge Flea Market in Southeastern Massachusetts that atrtracts vendors from everywhere. Even on this cold and blustery day, the outdoor vendors were set up, huddled by their vans drinking coffee, and the indoor venue was bustling more than normal. Since my B-I-L(Don) can't be left alone due to Alzheimers, we brought him along. We went to the first Record Seller and had a lovely time looking through the bins. Sis and Don held hands as she flipped through the Classic Rock and she scored some amazing finds, all the while talking to her husband about the artists and doing "Memory Awareness and Reality Orientation" chatter, which has to be a constant with Alzheimers Patients. Then it came time to pay for our finds, and Sis let go for just enough time to reach into her wallet, and Don dissappeared. Immediately I said "STAY HERE" and I went looking for Don through an absolute maze of vendors, booths, customers, drifters, and loiterers . Up and down the aisles I went, schlepping twenty pounds of vinyl records that I had already paid for, The Flea Market was like the Casbah, with vendors selling all kinds of stuff, their merchandise hiding passageways into little nooks and crannies. Of course, the vendors all thought I was shopping, so they kept trying to lure me into their shops and catch my eye. But I had ONE purpose. FIND DON. The Record Shop guy actually left his shop to search, and then the Police got involved.
About a year ago, my sister had put a tracking device on her phone, but she couldn't access it because "It Was No Longer Supported" so she had no way of using electronics to find him.
Meanwhile, I went outside to search among the Outdoor Vendors. Still no sign of him. I went back in the front entrance and there he was, just standing there. I went over to him and told him to sit on the bench, and called my sister. A police officer was passing by. I said, "I found him". Well the police officer didn't know who I was because he had only interacted with my sister. The officer was happy that I found him and went out to get my sister who was standing at the entrance to the Flea Market to catch Don if he had tried to leave the premises. There was a tearfull, huggy, reunion, and we went out for lunch. For a while there, we thought we may have lost him. It was REALLY STRESSFUL. But all is well now, and we decided that such an excursion into such a confusing place is no longer an appropriate adventure.
In the last scene of the movie Casablanca, the hero Rick says that "our own problems don't amount to a hill of beans in this crazy world". This was said in the midst of WW2, so he was right. The entire world had been plunged into War, and the atrocities were seemed so unprecidented that they spawned some new terms such as "Holocaust", "Genocide" and "War Crimes". It was a cataclysmic event for the entire planet.
That being said, everybody has his or her own "Hill of Beans", which, even in the context of Horrific World Events, seems insurmountable. Whether it is a sick family member, unemployment, financial problems, homelessness, violence, or trouble with the law, these problems can be overwhelming. Paul knew that the Churches he founded would face tribulation. But he tells the Believers to "Stand Firm". He doesn't leave them without weapons though. Paul speaks of God's Armor, of the Sword of the Spirit, and Prayer. As we pray today, please pray for each of us that is facing his own "Hill of Beans", but also pray for those suffering oppression, invasion, incarceration, and fear all around our planet.
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)
God Bless America.
Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.
