Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

1 Thessalonians 4
9 Now about your love for one another we do not need to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love each other. 10 And in fact, you do love all of God’s family throughout Macedonia. Yet we urge you, brothers and sisters, to do so more and more, 11 and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you, 12 so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father In Heaven,
How Blessed and Hallowed is Your Most Wonderful and Holy Name!
You Alone are Worthy To Be Praised and Worshiped,
For You Alone Are The One True God,
The Creator, Sustainer, and Destroyer of All Things.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

(1 Thessalonians 4)
9 Now about your love for one another we do not need to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love each other. 10 And in fact, you do love all of God’s family throughout Macedonia. Yet we urge you, brothers and sisters, to do so more and more, 11 and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you, 12 so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.
Yesterday, I had some business at the bank and was ushered into the Manager's Office to set up a new account. The Bank Manager, a statuesque black woman, wore a name tag that said "Dorcas." Remembering the story in the Book of Acts, I blurted out,
"I LOVE your name, Dorcas. It's from the Book of Acts in the Bible."
"Yes," she replied,"Acts Chapter 9!" And then she added, "And you're named after the Mother of Jesus!"
We instantly connected as Sisters in Christ, and the banking transaction turned into a delightful afternoon of fellowship. (Guess why I am changing banks. It has to do with a country that begins with "C", and ends in "a") Several hours later, I was conversing with my sister and mentioned the Bank Manager named "Dorcus"
"Oh my!," She replied. "Imagine how that poor woman must have suffered in school growing up with a name like that! It sounds just like 'DORK'!"
Since Dorcas and I went to the same Inner-City Elementary School (this came out in our conversation), I imagine my sister was right. Kids can be merciless about things like that. Perhaps she was known then as "Tabitha", Dorcas's other name. Then she would have fit right in! In any case, my sister's remark illustrated the contrast between the "World" and the Body of Christ. My first reaction to this lovely woman's name was to share Scripture. I was taking a chance that she could have dismissed me as a religious nut. On the other hand, her name would have meant something entirely different to her school mates, and could have caused unbearable bullying and torment.
In Paul's Letter to the Thessalonians, he indicates that he is aware of the contrast between them and the "World". He advises them to live decent, moral, and quiet lives, working with their hands and minding their own business. Sometimes, even when we do that, it's hard to stay out of trouble. There is something about Believers that make us different.
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)
God Bless America.

Psalm 114
1 When Israel went out from Egypt,
the house of Jacob from a people of strange language,
2 Judah became God’s* sanctuary,
Israel his dominion.
3 The sea looked and fled;
Jordan turned back.
4 The mountains skipped like rams,
the hills like lambs.
5 Why is it, O sea, that you flee?
O Jordan, that you turn back?
6 O mountains, that you skip like rams?
O hills, like lambs?
7 Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord,
at the presence of the God of Jacob,
8 who turns the rock into a pool of water,
the flint into a spring of water.
