Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father in Heaven,
Magnified and Sanctified is Your Most Holy Name!
For You Alone Are Worthy,
You Alone Are LORD,
You Alone Are The One True God.
We Come into Your Presence With Singing
and Into Your Courts With Praise,
For Your Are Eternal,
Omnipotent, and Righteous,
Our Creator,
and The Creator of All That Is!
It Is You That Command Nature and All It Contains,
The Earth is Yours,
And All of It's Creatures.
You can Make them Swarm or Die off.
It Is Your Call.
Even The dust of the earth is at Your Command!
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

Psalm 16
A Miktam of David.
1 Protect me, O God, for in you I take refuge.
2 I say to the Lord, ‘You are my Lord;
I have no good apart from you.’*
3 As for the holy ones in the land, they are the noble,
in whom is all my delight.
4 Those who choose another god multiply their sorrows;*
their drink-offerings of blood I will not pour out
or take their names upon my lips.
5 The Lord is my chosen portion and my cup;
you hold my lot.
6 The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;
I have a goodly heritage.
7 I bless the Lord who gives me counsel;
in the night also my heart instructs me.
8 I keep the Lord always before me;
because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my soul rejoices;
my body also rests secure.
10 For you do not give me up to Sheol,
or let your faithful one see the Pit.
11 You show me the path of life.
In your presence there is fullness of joy;

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Mom was in High School from 1940 to 1944. Even though she went to an All-Girls High School, there weren't too many boys around as they were all otherwise engaged in World War II. There was not much to do except study and work. Mom was in the "Business Course" and she was very good at it. She learned Typing, Steno, Shorthand, and, most importantly for all of us, the proper way to write a Good Business Letter. Whenever any of us kids needed a letter composed and typed, Mom would take care of it. Her letters were so effective that they nearly always got results. One incident in the late 1950's is still fresh in my mind.
Mom opened a brand new jar of jelly to make me a sandwich. The jar popped open and a foul smell emerged. There was something growing inside! I had to be content with plain peanut butter and Mom sat down at her typewriter. What emerged was a scathing business letter to the parent company. Properly composed, with all the right headings and margins, it looked as though it had come from a Law Firm. Within a week we got an obsequeous, groveling phone call from the president of the company and a huge box of products: jellies, jams, boxes of mac'n'cheese, cookies, crackers, chips, and sauces. It was great!
It seemed that Mom could type a zillion words per minute on her old Remington. She eventually upgraded to a portable electric, and once, for her Birthday, Dad gave her a Word-Processor. She wore it out! When computers came along, Mom didn't like them because they were too slow. She was our "Go-To Person" for Term Papers, Letters to the Editor, and Business Letters of all kinds. If a hand-written letter was called-for, she could do that too, as she had perfect Palmer-Method Penmanship.
You may have noticed a pattern in St. Paul's writing. He is using the prescribed method of writing a letter in the Roman Empire.
First, he states his own name. He is the Sender. Then he lists the Recipent. (As in "Paul, to the Church in Philippi" or like that). Then there is the body of the letter, which can be concise, or go on for a while. Finally, there is the Closing. In many of his letters Paul uses this closing to give his regards to people in the community. Paul's letters were written by hand, and there is evidence that Paul dictated some of them to either Luke or some other companion. (Even though Luke was a Physician, he may have had better handwriting than Paul).
There is, however, something in all of Paul's Letters that differs from the Roman Style of Letter-Writing. Paul nearly always opens and closes with a prayer. All through the body of the letter, Paul talks about prayer, and peppers his comments with Doxologies, Exhortaions to Pray, and short Hymns of Thanksgiving. These letters were treasured, copied, passed around, and, eventually canonized. People sent gifts to Paul and boxs of Food Products as well. Even though he was in Jail, he had more than he needed to get by!
Today's Reading is his Closing Prayer to the Philippians:
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)
God Bless America.
Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.
Hallelujah and Amen
