Top EU cardinal calls for change in church teaching on gay relationships

German cardinal urges lifting celibacy rule for priests
Card. Marx didn’t specify if the bride has to be biologically female, though.
But, hey! The Church has far greater problems than getting all picky about what human orifices are for, those old fashioned ideas about natural law or what priesthood is.
So long as we
CRUSH THE TRADS! THEY’re the problem!
Just think! Twenty-something moms who already have 3 or 4 well-behaved children in all those pews on Sunday mornings!
Long confession lines?!?
THAT’s not the kind of “walking together” they have in mind.
Pffft! Telling “sins” to a priest.
What about those young men kneeling for most of the Mass as if they actually believed God is there?!? Thinking they need forgiveness? Thinking there is Hell?
And they are HAPPY that way?!?
And they like … real … WOMEN!
Pachamama wouldn’t approve.
Ping
I am not catholic so I dont know what a TRAD is,but seems to me these cardinals should be asking “what does God want?” not espousing what they want. They need to get into His Word to rediscover what He wants.
I think it means traditionalist.
Those “Cardinals” should immediately be defrocked, expelled and then thrown on the rack.
Let them create their own homosexual church. /spit.
That makes sense. Not sure why they cant just spell that out in the article.

Unfortunately – you think this is bad now – just wait until they get to the Synod on the Synod on the Synod on the Synod of Synodality.
Fun fact: the celibacy thing of priests didn't become mandated until the 11th century (though some orders pushed it off and on before that). So if the Catholics are right that their church began all the way back with Peter, then celibacy is something they required only in the most recent half of their history (past 1,000 years) and not the first half (first 1,000 years).
IMHO that'd make the true "old fashioned" idea of priesthood allow marriage and making babies.
Agree
But multiple popes have not even cleared the gays from working at the Vatican...
The only conclusion you can reach is that they teach one thing about homosexuality and then turn their head and wink - and worse.
The main audience for this blog understands the shorthand. It's like a baseball blog using the term, "south paw".
Right?
using TRADS in all caps, demeans the traditionalist Catholics who are trying to protect their faith from the progressive wing of the church, led by the Pope. strange times.
Well, I know what a south paw is. I saw Rocky. ;)
While priestly celibacy is a changeable practice of the Church, homosexual acts are forbidden by the Word of God.
When are the normal Catholics going to stand up to the homosexuals who’ve taken it over?
Agree with you wholeheartedly on homosexuality being forbidden by God in the Bible, including New Testament.
Wrong.
Maybe the cardinals should ask the TRIAD.................
How often is this falsehood going to be repeated? Celibacy (or more properly priestly continence) has been the rule in the West from apostolic times. Yes, married men were ordained but they had to live a life a perpetual continence.
One of the reasons for the difference between the East and the West is the practice in the West of daily Mass. Even in the East married priest had to be abstain from sexual relations the whole day prior to celebrating the Mass. But whereas in the East the practice was that the Mass was celebrated only on Sundays, the practice of daily Mass in the West necessitated continual abstinence. Even today in the West married men can be ordained but they must live, with the agreement of their wives, a celibate life.
The various acts of church legislation from the Middle Ages enforcing celibacy that are cited as a proof of a latter imposition of this discipline are merely the renewed enforcement of what was already the apostolic tradition.
They could do away with Celibacy, a Medieval construct unique to Rome (made Dogma in 1139, to be exact). But I seem to recall Sodomy mentioned disparagingly in several sections of the Bible alongside Adultery, Fornication, Theft, Blasphemy, and Murder. Why not bring on pure Hellishness? I mean, in for a ¢, in for a £, eh?
