Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Acts 12

Peter’s Miraculous Escape From Prison

12 It was about this time that King Herod arrested some who belonged to the church, intending to persecute them. 2 He had James, the brother of John, put to death with the sword. 3 When he saw that this met with approval among the Jews, he proceeded to seize Peter also. This happened during the Festival of Unleavened Bread. 4 After arresting him, he put him in prison, handing him over to be guarded by four squads of four soldiers each. Herod intended to bring him out for public trial after the Passover.

5 So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him.

6 The night before Herod was to bring him to trial, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and sentries stood guard at the entrance. 7 Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him up. “Quick, get up!” he said, and the chains fell off Peter’s wrists.

8 Then the angel said to him, “Put on your clothes and sandals.” And Peter did so. “Wrap your cloak around you and follow me,” the angel told him. 9 Peter followed him out of the prison, but he had no idea that what the angel was doing was really happening; he thought he was seeing a vision. 10 They passed the first and second guards and came to the iron gate leading to the city. It opened for them by itself, and they went through it. When they had walked the length of one street, suddenly the angel left him.

11 Then Peter came to himself and said, “Now I know without a doubt that the Lord has sent his angel and rescued me from Herod’s clutches and from everything the Jewish people were hoping would happen.”

12 When this had dawned on him, he went to the house of Mary the mother of John, also called Mark, where many people had gathered and were praying. 13 Peter knocked at the outer entrance, and a servant named Rhoda came to answer the door. 14 When she recognized Peter’s voice, she was so overjoyed she ran back without opening it and exclaimed, “Peter is at the door!”

15 “You’re out of your mind,” they told her. When she kept insisting that it was so, they said, “It must be his angel.”

16 But Peter kept on knocking, and when they opened the door and saw him, they were astonished. 17 Peter motioned with his hand for them to be quiet and described how the Lord had brought him out of prison. “Tell James and the other brothers and sisters about this,” he said, and then he left for another place.

18 In the morning, there was no small commotion among the soldiers as to what had become of Peter. 19 After Herod had a thorough search made for him and did not find him, he cross-examined the guards and ordered that they be executed.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

My Mother-In-Law needed a miracle. She had been diagnosed with Stage 4 Cervical Cancer and was going into surgery the following day. She asked me if I knew any Old Testament prayers to comfort her, as she was very fearful. I promptly began reciting The 23rd Psalm from memory and she rebuked me, saying,

"THAT'S THE PRAYER JEWISH PEOPLE SAY FOR THE DEAD!

YIKES! I apologized profusely and prayed an impromptu prayer for her healing.

The next day, after her surgery, the doctors told her that there was nothing wrong with her and so they didn't remove anything after all. These were the reasons they offered:

1. There had been a misdiagnosis.
2. Her tests got somehow mixed up with somebody else's.
3. Her tests had shown a False Positive.
4. Her tests had been misinterpreted.

My M-I-L, being a rather suspicious individual, suspected a cruel hoax. I was the only person who entertained the thought that, possibly, just maybe, my M-I-L had been the recipient of a Sovereign Miracle of Healing from the Lord.

A certain Classic Rock song impores: "I need a Miracle every Day..." While I will venture to say that Every Day is a Miracle, it's all a matter of perspective. What can be easily explained away by "Science", "Coincidence," or a "Mistake" could actually be a Miracle, if our hearts are opened to recognize it as such.

When Peter was in Jail, the believers ernestly prayed for a Miracle. They were praying with one accord, united in hope, and believing God. But when the Miracle actually occurred, they had trouble believing in it. They attributed Peter's presence at the front door as an hallucination, a visitation from Peter's Guardian Angel, or maybe even Rhoda's foolishness. Rhoda herself didn't believe her eyes and closed the door in Peter's face!

Like the famous parable of the guy on his roof during a flood, we often reject help when it arrives because we are still waiting for a "miracle". The guy on the roof rejected the raft, the rescue boat, and the helicopter, and then complained that God didn't save him. God replied, I Tried! I sent you a raft, a rescue boat, and a helicopter!"

When you pray for a miracle, EXPECT it. That's called "FAITH."

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Psalm 113

1 Praise the Lord!
Praise, O servants of the Lord;
praise the name of the Lord.

2 Blessed be the name of the Lord
from this time on and for evermore.
3 From the rising of the sun to its setting
the name of the Lord is to be praised.
4 The Lord is high above all nations,
and his glory above the heavens.

5 Who is like the Lord our God,
who is seated on high,
6 who looks far down
on the heavens and the earth?
7 He raises the poor from the dust,
and lifts the needy from the ash heap,
8 to make them sit with princes,
with the princes of his people.
9 He gives the barren woman a home,
making her the joyous mother of children.
Praise the Lord!

I see nothing much has changed in the church.

They were praying for Peter and when the answer literally came knocking on the door, they didn’t believe it.

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH FOR
THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM!
And for the Preservation of the Valiant
Israeli Nation!

"Liberation of St. Peter"
Sebastiano Ricci - 1710

_OW about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church.

And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.

And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)
And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.

Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.

And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.

And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.

And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.

When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him.

And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the LORD hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.

And when he had considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together praying.

And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a damsel came to hearken, named Rhoda.

And when she knew Peter's voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the gate.

And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then said they, It is his angel.

But Peter continued knocking: and when they had opened the door, and saw him, they were astonished.

But he, beckoning unto them with the hand to hold their peace, declared unto them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, Go shew these things unto James, and to the brethren. And he departed, and went into another place.

Now as soon as it was day, there was no small stir among the soldiers, what was become of Peter.

And when Herod had sought for him, and found him not, he examined the keepers, and commanded that they should be put to death. And he went down from Judaea to Caesarea, and there abode.

My daughter needed a miracle from the get go – and climaxed at the end. As a nurse, at the beginnings of this COVID fiasco, before it was mandated, not thinking of herself, she chose to get vaccinated, because her husband’s father was elderly and vulnerable, and because she has a young son. I worried about it, the unknown, how this could effect a young woman, and the talks about it effecting fertility. Well, low and behold 3 months later she got pregnant. Now a new stage of concern, would this vaccine cause a miscarriage. Her first 4 months of pregnancy were not easy, she was horribly sick and lost a lot of weight. She persevered, continued to work, followed all protocols, and decided at the last month of her pregnancy to leave her job, avoid contact with people, and try to keep her home and family safe from COVID so that she could free of any danger herself. Well, at 38 weeks pregnant, not only did everyone in her family come down with COVID, she had the worse case. No taste, no smell, vomiting daily, diarrhea, fever, chills, it all. Thank GOD her husband had no symptoms although tested positive. Threw her into premature labor due to dehydration and she went to the ER and was stabilized and sent home to see if she could recover a bit more before full labor happened. Well, 2 days later she called me and said her water broke, but actually it was blood. She was covered with it, and in great danger both herself and the baby. I can’t tell you the terror that struck me. I kept believing that JESUS would bring her through this, and the baby would be alive. But you know how desperate the 11th hour is. She was ambulanced to the ER, and the wait began. Dreadful time. I’m so grateful for PRAYING FAMILY, PRAYING BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN THE FAITH, for I was without words, and possibly without faith to believe in a positive outcome. But, word came the baby was ok, and an emergency C-section performed and little Ezra was born and my daughter bleeding ceased. I kept saying over and over in my mind, “the life is the blood” no matter how it is applied, and Dear JESUS please save her and her son through the blood and water. He was so faithful to her. When all that could be thrown from the beginning of this COVID – through the vaccine – and into the sickness itself, HE WAS ABOVE ALL. PRAISE AND GLORY TO THE ONLY GOD OUR SAVIOR. Amen. Joining in prayer with all.

Wow! What a testimony! Thank you for sharing that with us.

Lot’s of times I am confronted by people who say they have never seen a miracle, so they have decided that miracles don’t happen.

Like I said...it’s all in the perception.
