Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Acts 10
Cornelius Calls for Peter
10 At Caesarea there was a man named Cornelius, a centurion in what was known as the Italian Regiment. 2 He and all his family were devout and God-fearing; he gave generously to those in need and prayed to God regularly. 3 One day at about three in the afternoon he had a vision. He distinctly saw an angel of God, who came to him and said, “Cornelius!”
4 Cornelius stared at him in fear. “What is it, Lord?” he asked.
The angel answered, “Your prayers and gifts to the poor have come up as a memorial offering before God. 5 Now send men to Joppa to bring back a man named Simon who is called Peter. 6 He is staying with Simon the tanner, whose house is by the sea.”
7 When the angel who spoke to him had gone, Cornelius called two of his servants and a devout soldier who was one of his attendants. 8 He told them everything that had happened and sent them to Joppa.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Abba Father,
How Awesome You Are!
You Alone Are LORD,
You Alone Are The Most High!
You Alone Are The One True God Of Abraham,
You Are The King of Kings,
LORD of Lords,
and Rock of All Ages,
Our Creator,
You Are Before All Things,
And In You All Things Hold Together.
Your Loving Kindness Is from Everlasting To Everlasting.
Even When We Are Unfaithful,
You Are Always Faithful.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

A friend of mine was a Missionary in Haiti for 11 years. During her time in Port-Au-Prince, the island was occupied by the UN. According to my friend, that time was agonizing. The Embargo made the poor island even more destitute, and I had to disguise packages of necessities as "Medical Supplies" to get through customs. (I was, in fact, a smuggler, but she was so grateful for a toothbrush I sent because a rat had died on hers!)
The UN troops were not benevolent. In fact, my friend told me that Haitian mothers had to train their children to AVOID the "Blue Helmets". To this day, we are still hearing stories about the Clinton Foundation, the UN, and that beknighted place.
There was, however, an officer who was very kind to my friend. He brought her some necessities, gave supplies to her little community, and made sure she got her packages from me. I think he had a crush on my friend, but it never amounted to anything. My friend retired from the ministry, returned home, met a nice man, got married, and had children. I have lost touch with her, but the story of Cornelius brought her back to my mind.
Rome's occupation of the Middle East was not benevolent. Although they built excellent roads, aqueducts, and buildings, thier religion was foreign to the Jews who worshipped only One God. The Romans even expected people to view the Emporer as a "god", which was a loathsome thought to both the Jews and the nascent Church. Although the Romans allowed the Jewish Temple to function, it was under tight control. Perhaps the most lasting insult to the Jewish People was the Roman label of the area as "Palestine", a corruption of the word "Philistine", who had been the enemy of Israel for centures. It was their idea of a cruel joke, and the name persists to this day, (with all the junk that goes with it!). The troops weren't happy with this far away posting, and the officers definitely had their hands full. It was in this setting that we find Cornelius, an officer in charge of a hundred men, with the rank of Centurion. Like my friend's Blue Helmet Officer, Cornelius was posted far away from home in a country that hated him. But he was a basically decent guy and noticed that the people had something he lacked. He must have been impressed with their worship of the One True God, so he started praying to that "One True God" as well as showing kindness to the people in the land that he occupied.
Although we are not justified by works, God would honor the prayers of this seeking Gentile. Not only that, but God was going to use Peter to do it. Peter had some issues of predudice that needed to be dealt with, so God would take care of BOTH of these men at the same time. Because He sees the Beginning from the End, and the End from the Beginning, it was the Perfect Plan!
(I'll bet the Blue Helmet Officer came to faith in the intervening years too. He might even be a FReeper by now. If you're out there, FRiend, let me know!:-))

Psalm 11
To the leader. Of David.
1 In the Lord I take refuge; how can you say to me,
‘Flee like a bird to the mountains;*
2 for look, the wicked bend the bow,
they have fitted their arrow to the string,
to shoot in the dark at the upright in heart.
3 If the foundations are destroyed,
what can the righteous do?’
4 The Lord is in his holy temple;
the Lord’s throne is in heaven.
His eyes behold, his gaze examines humankind.
5 The Lord tests the righteous and the wicked,
and his soul hates the lover of violence.
6 On the wicked he will rain coals of fire and sulphur;
a scorching wind shall be the portion of their cup.
7 For the Lord is righteous;
he loves righteous deeds;
the upright shall behold his face.

Verse three (”If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?”) troubled me like Psalm 73:16-17 says, “When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me; Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end.” After a week of concern for my dear America, I came to understand we needed a POLITICAL revival like that under Nehemiah, and a SPIRITUAL revival like that under Ezra. These two revivals were simultaneous and effective in post-exilic Israel, and as Rush often said, “Work(s) every time it’s tried!”

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH FOR THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM! And for the Preservation of the Valiant Israeli Nation!

"The Vision Of Cornelius The Centurion" Gerbrand van den Eeckhout - 1664 |
|
| _ | HERE was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band, A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the | people, and prayed to God alway. He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius.
And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.
And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter:
He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do.
And when the angel which spake unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually;
And when he had declared all these things unto them, he sent them to Joppa.

I was in Haiti during the same period. Clinton completely destroyed the Haitian economy over night. He was then and remains to this day the most hated person in Haiti. He has raped and plundered the people with a greed and an inhumanity that is breath taking.
