Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Luke 23

The Death of Jesus

44 It was now about noon, and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon, 45 for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two. 46 Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.”[e] When he had said this, he breathed his last.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father In Heaven,
Magnified and Sanctified
is Your Most Holy and Wonderful Name!
How Magnificent You Are,
How Glorious,
Righteous and Just!
For It is You Who Created Everything,
From the Vast Unimaginable Singularities in Space,
To the Minute Inner Workings
of My Own Synapses When I Dream!
You are Eternal,
And Forever Good.
There is No Shadow of turning With You.
Your Precepts and Promises Are Everlasting.
You Say It is So, and It Is So.
You Alone Are Worthy,
You Alone Are LORD,
You Alone Are The One True God of Abraham!

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

Let all that has Been Concealed,
Be Revealed.

God Bless America.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

The Last Words of Jesus on the Cross are distributed through the Four Gospels, but, over the years, scholars have consolidated them into a meditation that shows us a lot about Jesus and Prayer.

1. THE FIRST WORD

"Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do."
Luke 23:34

We are called to forgive those who have trespassed against us. This is often years after the offense, and sometimes the offender isn't even alive anymore. Imagine though, forgiving the offender right in the midst of the offense. How much more difficult is that? Notice that Jesus releases the offenders to the Father for forgiveness. St. Stephen, the first Christian Martyr, forgave in that manner too. By releasing the offender for forgiveness, we are also releasing ourselves from the hurt of the offense. It is a good model of prayer for all of us.

2. THE SECOND WORD

"Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise."
Luke 23:43

We talked about The "Good Thief" in yesterday's Meditation. In these words of Jesus, the Thief was assured of his Salvation. The other thief faced death with a curse on his lips. Those who trust in Jesus for their Salvation have this Promise from His Own Lips.

3. THE THIRD WORD

"Jesus said to his mother: "Woman, this is your son."
Then he said to the disciple: "This is your mother."
John 19:26-27

Mary was presumably widowed by this time. Jesus, even in His Agony, makes sure that His Mother is cared for. Whatever other implications are drawn from these words, the important thing is that Jesus, being the Fulfillment of the Law, certainly would not neglect the Commandment to honor his parents. "be ye doers of the Word and not just hearers of it."

4.THE FOURTH WORD

"My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"
Matthew 27:46 and Mark 15:34

Jesus is quoting the 22nd Psalm. The people around Him, who should have known better, thought that He was calling upon the Prophet Elijah. Even the scholars didn't recognize King David's agonized words! This was between Jesus and His Father, so perhaps the ears of the unbelievers were altered in some miraculous way so that they didn't understand what they were hearing. Maybe they were so filled with rage and hatred that they couldn't recognize Scripture when they heard it. In any case, this shows us how we can actually PRAY the Scriptures. Jesus wasn't reciting a poem. He was PRAYING. Sometimes I am able to find the EXACT Scripture that fits my situation, and am able to pray that Scripture directly to God. It usualy happens when I least expect it.

5.THE FIFTH WORD

"I thirst."
John 19:28

Thirst is a fundamental human need. We can go longer without food than we can of water. By experiencing hunger and thirst, Jesus demonstrates that He is Fully Man as well as Fully God. This is confirmed in the Book of Hebrews that:

For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who was tempted in every way that we are, yet was without sin...

6.THE SIXTH WORD

When Jesus had received the wine, he said, "It is finished;"
and he bowed his head and handed over the spirit.
John 19:30

"It Is Finished". With these words, Jesus tells us thet He is The Author and Finisher of Our Faith, The Fulfillment of the Law, The Alpha and the Omega, The Beginning and the End. He is before all things, and, in Him, all things hold together. The work of Salvation is Accomplished.

7. THE SEVENTH WORD

Jesus cried out in a loud voice,
"Father, into your hands I commend my spirit."
Luke 23:46

Jesus expresses total obedience to the Will of The Father as He breathes His last breath. This is in accordance with The Lord's Prayer: "Thy Kingdom Come, Thy Will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven."

Sorry I was so late in bringing you Today's Devotional...It took a while to set up. Tomorrow we will be going back to Jeremiah, for an extreme Prayer of Faith. Stay Tuned.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Amen !!! <><

Psalm 6

To the leader: with stringed instruments; according to The Sheminith. A Psalm of David.

1 O Lord, do not rebuke me in your anger,
or discipline me in your wrath.
2 Be gracious to me, O Lord, for I am languishing;
O Lord, heal me, for my bones are shaking with terror.
3 My soul also is struck with terror,
while you, O Lord—how long?

4 Turn, O Lord, save my life;
deliver me for the sake of your steadfast love.
5 For in death there is no remembrance of you;
in Sheol who can give you praise?

6 I am weary with my moaning;
every night I flood my bed with tears;
I drench my couch with my weeping.
7 My eyes waste away because of grief;
they grow weak because of all my foes.

8 Depart from me, all you workers of evil,
for the Lord has heard the sound of my weeping.
9 The Lord has heard my supplication;
the Lord accepts my prayer.
10 All my enemies shall be ashamed and struck with terror;
they shall turn back, and in a moment be put to shame.
