Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Luke 18
The Little Children and Jesus
15 People were also bringing babies to Jesus for him to place his hands on them. When the disciples saw this, they rebuked them. 16 But Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 17 Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Abba Father,
How Awesome You Are!
You Alone Are LORD,
You Alone Are The Most High!
You Alone Are The One True God Of Abraham,
You Are The King of Kings,
LORD of Lords,
and Rock of All Ages,
Our Creator,
You Are Before All Things,
And In You All Things Hold Together.
Your Loving Kindness Is from Everlasting To Everlasting.
Even When We Are Unfaithful,
You Are Always Faithful.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
Let all that has Been Concealed,
Be Revealed.
God Bless America.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Forty years ago, I worked in an Evangelical Book Store that had a satellite store located on the campus of a very liberal seminary. The majority of seminarians were women, and the curriculum was heavily into Liberation Theology. Our store had a very close relationship with the college, and hired seminarians so that they coukld have a part-time job while attending school. It looked like a nice arrangement. But it had its problems.
One seminarian, whom I will call Cathy, had a totally different philosophy about spirituality than the mission of the store. She was devoted to Radical Feminism, Liberation Theology, and Marxism. And she was studying to be a minister! YIKES! This bothered me so much, but I was a brand-new Christian, and was hesitant to correct someone who seemed so much more intellectual and knowledgeable than I was. The breaking point came in the late springtime of 1983, when the store got in boxes of Vacation Bible School materials. These were published by various denominations and involved individual workbooks for the kids and a teacher's guide. There were also other materials such as felt story boards, and various religious trinkets to use as classroom prizes and so on. It was typical Sunday-School fare, with not-so awesome artwork, and a child-like approach to the Gospel. Some were better than others, but they were similar.
Anyway, it was Cathy's job to arrange the VBS Materials into a nice store display. She was appalled! Sneering and muttering sarcasm, she piled up the curricula on the display rack. Like a sophisticated New York Stand-Up Comic, she had something nasty to say about every Workbook, Teacher's Guide, and Gospel-Themed Prize Item she placed on the display. When she completed the task, she announced to me:
"There! I am finally finished with your 'Jesus Junk'!"
I was speechless for a moment, and then said,
"Unless you become like little children, you will not see the kingdom of heaven."
Forty years have passed, The store is no more. I have been in several churches and ministries over the years, and wonder what became of Cathy. If she is indeed a pastor of a church somewhere, I wonder if they have VBS.
Now, this story was not intended to start a thread about women in ministry, because that is a whole other can of worms. The point of the story is to show what Jesus was saying about Prayer. We are not to approach God to impress Him with our Education, Impressive Vocabulary, or Clever definitions of Spirituality. We are not to catalogue our stand on Womens' Rights, Liberation Theology, or Political Correctness.
If you are truly a Child of God, that's how you approach Him, with innocence, trust, and faith.
Jesus rebuked His Own Disciples when they strayed from this ideal.
And that's how my little story relateds to Prayer.
Merry Christmas!

Amen !!! <><
Psalm 82
A Psalm of Asaph.
1 God has taken his place in the divine council;
in the midst of the gods he holds judgement:
2 ‘How long will you judge unjustly
and show partiality to the wicked?
Selah
3 Give justice to the weak and the orphan;
maintain the right of the lowly and the destitute.
4 Rescue the weak and the needy;
deliver them from the hand of the wicked.’
5 They have neither knowledge nor understanding,
they walk around in darkness;
all the foundations of the earth are shaken.
6 I say, ‘You are gods,
children of the Most High, all of you;
7 nevertheless, you shall die like mortals,
and fall like any prince.’*
8 Rise up, O God, judge the earth;
for all the nations belong to you!
