Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Luke 1

Zechariah’s Song

67 His father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied:

68  “Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel,
    because he has come to his people and redeemed them.

69  He has raised up a horn[c] of salvation for us
    in the house of his servant David

70  (as he said through his holy prophets of long ago),
71  salvation from our enemies
    and from the hand of all who hate us—

72  to show mercy to our ancestors

    and to remember his holy covenant,
73      the oath he swore to our father Abraham:

74  to rescue us from the hand of our enemies,
    and to enable us to serve him without fear

75      in holiness and righteousness before him all our days.

76  And you, my child, will be called a prophet of the Most High;
    for you will go on before the Lord to prepare the way for him,

77  to give his people the knowledge of salvation
    through the forgiveness of their sins,

78  because of the tender mercy of our God,
    by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven

79  to shine on those living in darkness
    and in the shadow of death,
to guide our feet into the path of peace.”

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Abba, Father,
You Are Our Light and Our Salvation.
You are Our Hope When All Seems Dark.
You Alone Are The One To Whom We Must Turn
For You Alone Are The One True God!
Let us Not Pin Our Hopes On Our Own Ingenuity
Our own Inventions,
Our Own Machinations,
But Let us trust Completely in You,
With the Faith of a Child.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

We are still in just the first Chapter of Luke, and here is another Prayer. Zechariah has been unable to speak for nine months, and his first utterance is a song of praise to God. In this prayer, he follows the pattern of Praise, Recounting God's Glory and Might, Remembering His Mercies, and entering the Gates with Thanksgiving.

Then, the prayer goes into a Prophecy for the baby John, who is to become the Forerunner of the Messiah. The Prayer becomes a conversation with God, as Zechariah speaks words inspired by The Holy Spirit.

A child doesn't have to be John The Baptist for a parent to pray for him. Many a person has been saved due to the prayers of a Mom or Dad that has never given up on prayer.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

I am your servant, the child of your serving-maid.
You have loosed my bonds.
17 I will offer to you a thanksgiving sacrifice
and call on the name of the Lord.
18 I will pay my vows to the Lord
in the presence of all his people,
19 in the courts of the house of the Lord,
in your midst, O Jerusalem.
