Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Mark 1
Jesus Prays in a Solitary Place
35 Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. 36 Simon and his companions went to look for him, 37 and when they found him, they exclaimed: “Everyone is looking for you!”
38 Jesus replied, “Let us go somewhere else—to the nearby villages—so I can preach there also. That is why I have come.” 39 So he traveled throughout Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and driving out demons.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Oh LORD, Our God,
How Excellent,
How Glorious,
How Majestic,
Is Your Name Over All The Earth!
The Earth is Yours,
The Heavens,
and the Vast Expanses of Space,
You Created it All,
And it is All Under Your Control.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
Let all that has Been Concealed,
Be Revealed.
God Bless America.

Psalm 100
A Psalm of thanksgiving.
1 Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth.
2 Worship the Lord with gladness;
come into his presence with singing.
3 Know that the Lord is God.
It is he that made us, and we are his;*
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
and his courts with praise.
Give thanks to him, bless his name.
5 For the Lord is good;
his steadfast love endures for ever,
and his faithfulness to all generations.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

As a young art student, I was "in love" with Vincent Van Gogh. I read all kinds of books about him, especially "Lust for Life" and "Dear Theo". To this day, my own art shows his influence.
Vincent was a Christian, and wanted to share the Gospel with the poorest of the poor, who at that time were the coal miners in the Boranage region of Belgium. At the time, the Missionary Society felt that Vincent wasn't mature enough in his faith for such a difficult missionary field. But because of his persistence, and perhaps because nobody else wanted to go there, he was sent as an apostle to the coal miners.
Unfortunately, Vincent failed in his mission, not because he didn't give, but that he gave too much. He gave everything away, didn't bathe, lived in squalor, and ended up getting very sick. The Missionary Society had to rescue him and, of course, he was fired.
Some interesting art came from Vincent during this period, but it is very dark and muddy, much like his state of mind at the time.
Perhaps if he had taken care of himself as he took care of others, he would have succeeded. Much like the Flight Attendant's intructions for a mother to breathe from the oxygen mask first and then apply it to her infant, we must have solitary time with God in order to be empowered to share Him with others.
There are several passages in the Gospels that say "Jesus went to a solitary place to pray." From this passage in Mark we can see that He had to get up early to be alone. It would also seem that He wasn't alone for long, as His Disciples sought Him out with their needs as soon as they woke up. If Jesus needed this solitary time with His Father before ministering to others, how much more so do we?
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)
God Bless America.
Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.
Hallelujah and Amen

I loved “Dear Theo”, it showed that Vincent was as gifted in his writing as he was as a painter. Very introspective and insightful.
Joining in prayer. God bless.

Yes, indeed. I loved that book too. It was as if Vincent was writing his letters directly to ME. :-)

If Jesus needed this solitary time with His Father before ministering to others, how much more so do we? Thank you. We can never go wrong when we are emulating our Lord. I daresay He prayed for the peace of Jerusalem, so I emulate Him in that: AMEN!
