Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Matthew 7
Ask, Seek, Knock
7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
9 “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! 12 So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father,
Who Art in Heaven,
Magnified and Sanctified
Is Your Most Holy and Wonderful Name!
How Awesome You Are,
and How Glorious!
You Alone Are Worthy to Be Praised,
For You Alone Are My Strength And My Song,
My Rock and My Redeemer!
You Are The One True God Of Abraham,
And Know The End From The Beginning
and the Beginning From The End,
Because You Are The Aleph~Tav,
The Alpha and the Omega,
The Beginning and The End of All Things.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
Let all that has Been Concealed,
Be Revealed.
God Bless America.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

In the movie The Godfather, Marlon Brando plays Vito Corlione, the patriarch of a crime family. In an opening scene, Vito is sitting in his office during his daughter's wedding, as various associates come to pay their respects. One character comes with a plea for help. The Godfather replies that, although they have known each other for years, the petitioner has never even dropped in to say hello, and now, here he is, asking for assistance. Further on in the movie, we see that Vito has a totally different relationship with his own children. Even the dimwitted Fredo, Vito's firstborn, is treated with tenderness as Vito ages, maintains his empire, and chooses his successor. Nearly all the characters in the movie are evil, and the movie is filled with mayhem, but the family dynamics that present themselves are familiar to us all.
In this portion of The Sermon on the Mount, Jesus speaks of another form of prayer. It is perhaps the most popular form of prayer there is, but also perhaps the most misunderstood. This is the Prayer of Petition.
Some teachers admonish their followers to not engage in this kind of prayer too much. They emphasize God's Omnipotence and Holiness (both True!) and caution people not to presume upon God or bother Him with their problems. Like Vito Corleoni, these teachers say that one shouldn't approach God with a petition if you haven't been faithfully communicating with Him all along.
The opposite extreme is the teacher who has a formula for prayer that allegedly forces God to act on one's behalf. (having the right amount of faith, always tagging the prayer with certain words, etc). Both of these extreme teachings can back themselves up with Scripture passages, but they are either misinterpreted or out-of-context.
The Prayer of Petition is best described by Jesus Himself, and emphasizes not words, faith, or formula, but Relationship.
Jesus uses the example of an earthly father. Anyone who is a parent can relate to this. If your child came to you and asked for bread, would you give him a stone? Of course, you might give a lesson along with the bread, especially if the child needs it. The important thing is the bond of love that exists between the Father and Child.
When Jesus taught The Lord's Prayer, He opened with the Hebrew word "Abba". We have translated this to "Our Father" but it means so much more than that. "Abba" is one of the first words a baby learns, along with "Mama". It implies dependence, affection, intimacy, and trust. And that is the way it should be when you approach the Father.

Proverbs 10
The proverbs of Solomon.
1 A wise child makes a glad father,
but a foolish child is a mother’s grief.
2 Treasures gained by wickedness do not profit,
but righteousness delivers from death.
3 The Lord does not let the righteous go hungry,
but he thwarts the craving of the wicked.
4 A slack hand causes poverty,
but the hand of the diligent makes rich.
5 A child who gathers in summer is prudent,
but a child who sleeps in harvest brings shame.
6 Blessings are on the head of the righteous,
but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence.
7 The memory of the righteous is a blessing,
but the name of the wicked will rot.
8 The wise of heart will heed commandments,
but a babbling fool will come to ruin.
9 Whoever walks in integrity walks securely,
but whoever follows perverse ways will be found out.
10 Whoever winks the eye causes trouble,
but the one who rebukes boldly makes peace.*
11 The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life,
but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence.
12 Hatred stirs up strife,
but love covers all offences.
13 On the lips of one who has understanding wisdom is found,
but a rod is for the back of one who lacks sense.
14 The wise lay up knowledge,
but the babbling of a fool brings ruin near.
15 The wealth of the rich is their fortress;
the poverty of the poor is their ruin.
16 The wage of the righteous leads to life,
the gain of the wicked to sin.
17 Whoever heeds instruction is on the path to life,
but one who rejects a rebuke goes astray.
18 Lying lips conceal hatred,
and whoever utters slander is a fool.
19 When words are many, transgression is not lacking,
but the prudent are restrained in speech.
20 The tongue of the righteous is choice silver;
the mind of the wicked is of little worth.
21 The lips of the righteous feed many,
but fools die for lack of sense.
22 The blessing of the Lord makes rich,
and he adds no sorrow with it.*
23 Doing wrong is like sport to a fool,
but wise conduct is pleasure to a person of understanding.
24 What the wicked dread will come upon them,
but the desire of the righteous will be granted.
25 When the tempest passes, the wicked are no more,
but the righteous are established for ever.
26 Like vinegar to the teeth, and smoke to the eyes,
so are the lazy to their employers.
27 The fear of the Lord prolongs life,
but the years of the wicked will be short.
28 The hope of the righteous ends in gladness,
but the expectation of the wicked comes to nothing.
29 The way of the Lord is a stronghold for the upright,
but destruction for evildoers.
30 The righteous will never be removed,
but the wicked will not remain in the land.
31 The mouth of the righteous brings forth wisdom,
but the perverse tongue will be cut off.
32 The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable,
but the mouth of the wicked what is perverse.

I like the part of the Godfather when he is petting a cat. I understand the cat just wandered into the studio, Marlon Brando picked him up and the director went with it.
Joining in prayer, left that other site, for the Peace of Jerusalem and for our beloved America.
