”Does a mother have a right to ingest drugs and harm a pre-viable baby? Can the state bring child neglect charges against the mother?“ he asked. The Supreme Court is currently reviewing a Mississippi law that would ban nearly all abortions after 15 weeks.

If a pregnant woman has just a glass of wine, she will be subjected to all kinds of rude stares and reprimands from all around her.

Yet if she chose abortion, many of those same people would trip over themselves to help her make that happen.

I always thought that was quite strange.

I ask folks if there’s any difference between killing a pregnant woman and one who’s not.

I liked this Justice Thomas question:
“If we were talking about the second amendment, I know what
we’re talking about. Because it’s written, it’s there. What,
specifically, is the right here [to abortion] that we’re talking
about?”

They won’t be able to answer that question or refuse to answer it. They may say if she does that and brings the child to term, then she is accountable but if she aborts it, she is not doing anything wrong as there will be no child.

I’m feeling pretty dumb. I think I’m missing the key implication that makes his comment a bombshell.

The Left is good at having it both ways. Won’t they say that a mother owns her body, and if a pregnant woman poisons herself with drugs, that’s simply her choice and her body and it is a mere coincidence that a child is present? And on the other hand, if a pregnant woman wants to be Not Pregnant, then isn’t it her choice and her body and can’t she just get that little problem taken care of?

I don’t see how Justice Thomas’s comment somehow exposes hitherto undetected Leftist hypocrisy. What don’t I see?

Why is this terrifying them?

Because to even consider that question one must assume a baby with normal rights of a human being is in that womb.

Currently many have convinced themselves that there is no baby in the womb of a pregnant woman, therefor no rights exist in there.

Because there are laws to protect the unborn that govern the behavior the mother and because there are laws that make killing an unborn child murder under certain circumstances (usually battery and violent felonies).
That means the courts have legally acknowledged that the unborn are people with certain rights.

That one! That’s the bombshell, in my opinion. His comment about drugs seems pretty “meh” to me.

You are 100% right. Imagine a pregnant woman posted to facebook a photo of herself enjoying an alcoholic beverage and a cigarette. Heads would explode. But if same woman “shouts her abortion,” it’d be nothing but “Attagirl!” from the very same crowd.

Rhetorical hypocrisy is all fine and dandy in a political argument (when you are appealing to dullards), but it doesn’t really go over very well in a legal argument...

Thomas rarely talks during the hearings. If he’s asking a question he’s signaling to his peers the way they need to go. And a message to council.

Nothing “boom” about that question in my opinion. Libs always fall back on “my body, my choice”.

It’s not the woman’s body, it’s the baby’s body.

This is what Justice Thomas identified. That there is no existing Right for abortion.

No one has = The Right = to kill.

A little off topic, but not much ....
....I recently met and heard the true story of a beautiful soul whose mom tried to abort her in the 2nd trimester

The abortionist fed solutions into the womb for 5 days to burn & kill this baby, but God sustained her....
....and she was born alive!
They still left her in a room to die, but a nurse found her and rushed her to NICU
This woman was adopted by a loving family....
..she now is a huge voice for the unborn!
