ST. PAUL, Minnesota — About 50 parishioners protested outside Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in St. Paul on Sunday over what they say is the eradication of culture and tradition from Minnesota’s first Hispanic parish.
Many of the demonstrators were third-generation members of the Catholic church, which has a 90-year history in St. Paul. Among specific complaints, they say Aztec dancers are no longer allowed inside the church, there is no Sunday school or choir, masses previously led in Spanish are now in Latin and women are not allowed on the altar.
One of the protesters, Vincent Mendez, said “it feels like we’re being forced out again” and added that the parishioners “just want to save our church.”

Just curious, but why would they have Aztec dancers performing traditional Aztec dancers inside the church? Do Hispanic Catholics in St. Paul still worship and make human sacrifices to the Aztec sun god?
Aztec dancers are no longer allowed inside the church.
I can see how that would interfere with the human sacrifices.
I will go along with the Hispanic people in that building. Guadalupe is located in a Spanish speaking area of the Americas. And before they spoke Spanish they spoke Native American languages. Telling them that they should all worship Italy instead of their own heritage is a bunch of crud. They had a cultural community center which also served as a Church. That is the ideal of Fellowship. A Christ Centered Neighborhood.
Are you Catholic?
Spanish speaking Catholics have been worship in Catholic Churches with Latin as the primary language for 1,000 years. St. Juan Diego went to churches where Latin was the liturgical language.
The primary purposes of a Catholic Church is to provide proper worship to God and Sacraments to the Mystical Body of Christ (the Faithful), not merely to provide fellowship.
I don’t have any Roman in me (the language is Latin, NOT Italian), but I seek out a Latin Mass because it does a better job of doing what a Catholic Church is supposed to do.
“Telling them that they should all worship Italy...”
You’re deranged. Vatican is not Italy anyway lol
Why do you ask? It wasn’t designated a ‘caucus’ thread.
All of Christianity co-opted and accommodated various pagan traditions as it moved across the world.
(I don’t think a Christmas Tree was suggested anywhere in the NT - nor an egg for Easter. But I’ve never known a Catholic who didn’t celebrate to some extent with these symbols.)
Really, the Catholic Religion has been in the Americas for over 1000 years. I keep thinking 1493. Well less than 1000 years. Back in Europe 1000 years ago there were brutal mass murders by the Pope and his army to put down any form of simple minded worship of Christ. Eyes were poked out of the Christians who wanted to walk with Christ instead of the corrupt government of the Pope. Ah yes, The Current Pope is perfect in every way. The fact that there are those who claim that Francis is a Communist is just plain wrong. Pope Francis is perfect in every way. No one should ever question what he says or does. To be Catholic is to be a part of the Pope Francis line of thought. He is the leader. He is the Boss. Sarc.
“just want to save our church.”
Loser. It’s not your church. Worship the Lord in His church or go home.
Vatican not in Italy? It was in Italy until the Facist Pig Mussolini declared it a separate nation state. Amazing how the Pope back then was willing to cooperate with Mussolini. Hey, cooperate or die. I would prefer to live. Back then the Catholic Bureaucracy did what it needed to do. I did look at a map. Vatican City was found in Argentina. Dang, I sure thought it was in Italy.
Then the Vatican cheered on the Ustashe in Croatia during WWII.
These people complaining are actually pagans, uncivilized, raw pagans.
Bottom line it is catholic church so their rules.
If you don’t like the way the powers that be run it you are free to start another church. Baptists have been doing it that way for hundreds of years....
Once I saw this guy on a bridge about to jump. I said, “Don’t do it!” He said, “Nobody loves me.” I said, “God loves you. Do you believe in God?”
He said, “Yes.” I said, “Are you a Christian or a Jew?” He said, “A Christian.” I said, “Me, too! Protestant or Catholic?” He said, “Protestant.” I said, “Me, too! What franchise?” He said, “Baptist.” I said, “Me, too! Northern Baptist or Southern Baptist?” He said, “Northern Baptist.” I said, “Me, too! Northern Conservative Baptist or Northern Liberal Baptist?”
He said, “Northern Conservative Baptist.” I said, “Me, too! Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region, or Northern Conservative Baptist Eastern Region?” He said, “Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region.” I said, “Me, too!”
Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1879, or Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1912?” He said, “Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1912.”
I said, “Die, heretic!” And I pushed him over.
LOL!
Erno Rules!
How often are they going to change their ‘rules’?
Churches are having a hard enough time getting people to attend to let the left brainwash them into this anti-science position. Democrats are waging war against normality and they finally got to Salvation Army. I saw a video about how that organization went woke and instantly regretted it as donors immediately pulled their money, and you can check it out top of page at Whatfinger News in crawler link. Leftists ruin everything that they touch, so don’t let them touch you. If your church does this remind them there is a reason God gave you a working immune system and no mask at birth.
No such thing as a ‘native american’[sic]. American Indians came to this place across the Bering Strait landbridge from Asia.
Nope, it is a separate country.
