Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Ezra7:27-28

27 Praise be to the Lord, the God of our ancestors, who has put it into the king’s heart to bring honor to the house of the Lord in Jerusalem in this way 28 and who has extended his good favor to me before the king and his advisers and all the king’s powerful officials. Because the hand of the Lord my God was on me, I took courage and gathered leaders from Israel to go up with me.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Oh LORD, Our God,
How Wonderful,
How Excellent,
How Glorious is Your Most Holy Name!
How True is Your Word, and How Mighty!
How Glorious are Your Promises
To which we cling with faith and anticipation!
How Exquisite is Your Robe of Righteousness,
How Magnificent Your Crown of Glory!

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

Let all that has Been Concealed,
Be Revealed.

God Bless America.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

The Books of Ezra and Nehemiah are companion books that chronicle the Return of the Exiles from Babylon and the rebuilding of ruined Jerusalem. They are written from two different perspectives, as Ezra was a Priest and Nehemiah was Servant, eventually made Governor. Even so, both approached the huge task before them with prayer.

Before even starting to rebuild the Temple, both Ezra and Nehemiah had to supervise the building of a defensive wall. Nehemiah rode his horse around the ruins and realized that the task was enormous. How could anyone even think about building God's house while the entire city was exposed to invaders? And so Nehemiah got to work building a wall.

Ezra, the Priest, faced a different kind of invasion. After 70 years of exile, many men had married foreign wives, and adopted their gods. Some were even members of the Priestly Families. According to the Law, these men would not be eligible to serve in the Temple. It would require drastic, painful action to repent of this grave sin. Ezra did what was the only thing he could do...Pray. As a Priest, he was an emissary between God and His people. As a Human, he had to repent of his own sin before he could bring his case to the LORD.

The Book of Ezra includes some of the man's prayers.

The New Testament Book of Hebrews speaks of the prayers of a priest. Since All Have Sinned, and Fall Short of the Glory of God (Romans 3:23), the human priest had to make atonement for his OWN sin before he could present the sacrifice for the regular people. Jesus, who experienced all the same temptations known to us, yet was without sin, was the only one qualified to make atonement for us all.

Ezra seemed to understand this principle, as he abases himself and repents in preparation for praying for his nation.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America.

Psalm 45

To the leader: according to Lilies. Of the Korahites. A Maskil. A love song.

1 My heart overflows with a goodly theme;
I address my verses to the king;
my tongue is like the pen of a ready scribe.

2 You are the most handsome of men;
grace is poured upon your lips;
therefore God has blessed you for ever.
3 Gird your sword on your thigh, O mighty one,
in your glory and majesty.

4 In your majesty ride on victoriously
for the cause of truth and to defend* the right;
let your right hand teach you dread deeds.
5 Your arrows are sharp
in the heart of the king’s enemies;
the peoples fall under you.

6 Your throne, O God,* endures for ever and ever.
Your royal sceptre is a sceptre of equity;
7 you love righteousness and hate wickedness.
Therefore God, your God, has anointed you
with the oil of gladness beyond your companions;
8 your robes are all fragrant with myrrh and aloes and cassia.
From ivory palaces stringed instruments make you glad;
9 daughters of kings are among your ladies of honour;
at your right hand stands the queen in gold of Ophir.

10 Hear, O daughter, consider and incline your ear;
forget your people and your father’s house,
11 and the king will desire your beauty.
Since he is your lord, bow to him;
12 the people* of Tyre will seek your favour with gifts,
the richest of the people 13with all kinds of wealth.

The princess is decked in her chamber with gold-woven robes;*
14 in many-coloured robes she is led to the king;
behind her the virgins, her companions, follow.
15 With joy and gladness they are led along
as they enter the palace of the king.

16 In the place of ancestors you, O king,* shall have sons;
you will make them princes in all the earth.
17 I will cause your name to be celebrated in all generations;
therefore the peoples will praise you for ever and ever.
