Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Matthew 6

Do Not Worry

25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[e]?

28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

In October 2015, when my brother called me to ask if I could drop everything and come back to Massachusetts take care of Mom, I didn't hesitate.

"Come down and get me in a week," I said. I have a few things I need to get rid of."

And so, in a week's time, I gave away the following:

Complete Bedroom Set with a King-Size bed, two side tables, chest of drawers, and huge bureau with mirror
Complete Dining Room Set
Complte Living Room set and beautiful Stereo System with Klipsch Speakers
Wide Screen TV
Kitchen full of dishes, pots and pans and silverware
Two bathrooms full of towels, sheets, and linens
Several Guitars, Amps, Basses and Keyboards,
An Entire 16-Track Digital Recording Studio which took up a whole room,
All my Paintings, Photos, Art and Photography Supplies
All my Original Sheet Music and Music Books.

And so, with the clothes on my back and my brother's motorcycle trailer, which we still managed to fill to the brim, we drove the 30 hours from Ft. Lauderdale to Boston. I brought my Car, my Harley, my Guitar, my Bass, and my Dog. There's a Country and Western Song in there, I'll Betcha.

Yesterday, I was puttering around the house and I needed a particular tool. I rumaged around the bottom of the linen closet and found two toolboxes that I hadn't touched since I moved into my Mobile Home 5 years ago. All the tools were covered in rust and mold (except the Hoppes #9 tools They were nice and shiny! Good Stuff that Hoppes #9!) And so I got out the sanitizing wipes and proceeded to clean the tools. The boxes in which they were kept were beyond repair, so out they went. Several pliers and wrenches were so rusted that they could not be used (and I have more in the tool drawer anyway) so out they went too. The barrel outside was getting heavier and heavier. Finally, the job was done. I never did find the tool I was looking for.

Oddly enough, Yard Sales abound with old, rusty, moldy tools. It would seem that, when people can't find the tool that they want, they just buy a new one, until they can't find THAT one either. It takes a major life-changing event (such as moving) to find these tools, and by then, rust and mold have claimed them and made them useless. Out they go! Unfortunately, Modern Tools are mostly Made-In-China, and fall apart before the Rust and Mold can get at 'em. Them we buy more.

Which reminds me...Time to clean out my Art Supplies Again!
