Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Isaiah 26

A Song of Praise

26 In that day this song will be sung in the land of Judah:

We have a strong city;
    God makes salvation
    its walls and ramparts.

2  Open the gates
    that the righteous nation may enter,
    the nation that keeps faith.

3  You will keep in perfect peace
    those whose minds are steadfast,
    because they trust in you.

4  Trust in the Lord forever,
    for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal.

5  He humbles those who dwell on high,
    he lays the lofty city low;
he levels it to the ground
    and casts it down to the dust.

6  Feet trample it down—
    the feet of the oppressed,
    the footsteps of the poor.

7  The path of the righteous is level;
    you, the Upright One, make the way of the righteous smooth.

8  Yes, Lord, walking in the way of your laws,[a]
    we wait for you;
your name and renown
    are the desire of our hearts.

9  My soul yearns for you in the night;
    in the morning my spirit longs for you.
When your judgments come upon the earth,
    the people of the world learn righteousness.

10  But when grace is shown to the wicked,
    they do not learn righteousness;
even in a land of uprightness they go on doing evil
    and do not regard the majesty of the Lord.

11  Lord, your hand is lifted high,
    but they do not see it.
Let them see your zeal for your people and be put to shame;
    let the fire reserved for your enemies consume them.

12  Lord, you establish peace for us;
    all that we have accomplished you have done for us.

13  Lord our God, other lords besides you have ruled over us,
    but your name alone do we honor.

14  They are now dead, they live no more;
    their spirits do not rise.
You punished them and brought them to ruin;
    you wiped out all memory of them.

15  You have enlarged the nation, Lord;
    you have enlarged the nation.
You have gained glory for yourself;
    you have extended all the borders of the land.

16  Lord, they came to you in their distress;
    when you disciplined them,
    they could barely whisper a prayer.[b]

17  As a pregnant woman about to give birth
    writhes and cries out in her pain,
    so were we in your presence, Lord.

18  We were with child, we writhed in labor,
    but we gave birth to wind.
We have not brought salvation to the earth,
    and the people of the world have not come to life.

19  But your dead will live, Lord;
    their bodies will rise—
let those who dwell in the dust
    wake up and shout for joy—
your dew is like the dew of the morning;
    the earth will give birth to her dead.

20  Go, my people, enter your rooms
    and shut the doors behind you;
hide yourselves for a little while
    until his wrath has passed by.

21  See, the Lord is coming out of his dwelling
    to punish the people of the earth for their sins.
The earth will disclose the blood shed on it;
    the earth will conceal its slain no longer.

Our Father in Heaven,
Magnified, Sanctified,
and Hallowed Be Your Most Holy and Glorious Name!
You Are So Holy and Worthy of Praise and Worship,
we are Overwhelmed by Your Glory!
It is You Who Have Made The Earth and All it Contains,
from the tiniest of Creatures,
to the Greatest of the Mountains,
Forests and Deserts.
It is You Who Command the Motion of the Stars,
The Galaxies,
and the Great Singularities of Time and Space.
There is Nobody who can hide from You.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

Let all that has Been Concealed,
Be Revealed.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

It was still dark this morning, but the alarm clock said 6:33, so it was time to get up. I debated taking a shower and washing my hair, but that would mean washing a load of towels. Since I already had a basket of laundry to do, I got dressed, turned on the coffee maker, checked the mousetraps under the sink for "victims", (it's that time of year again), and brought the basket of laundry into the dining room, which has a closet containing my washer-dryer combo that I just spent $1500.00(not a typo) to repair.

I opened the washer and a foul stench filled the room. There, at the bottom of the tub, caught under the agitator, was a decomposing dead mouse. Even though I had not even had my coffee yet, I gloved up and had to reach down into the washer to dislodge the stinking mess from under the agitator. The stage of decomposition was such that the thing kept slipping around as I tried to bag it. Finally, I had it done and I fled the house to discard the bag into the communal dumpster at the end of my street. No way was I putting that in MY trash! Well, at least there was coffee awaiting me. When I got home, I could smell the mouse before i even opened the front door. I went to the shed and got a whole quart of bleach, which I poured into the washer tub and ran a cycle with hot water. Then I went to get me some coffee.

Evidently, the coffeemaker was on its last legs and leaked watery coffee grounds all over my countertop. I pulled the plug and began to sop up the (literally )HOT MESS which was now leaking all over the floor. I was able to salvage a single cup of weak, grainy, luke-warm coffee, light a scented candle, do the laundry in the freshly sanitized washer, and have a bite to eat. And now, I'm doing the thread, and Today's Passage contains a phrase that has been my strength for nearly 40 years.

You will keep in perfect peace
those whose minds are steadfast,
because they trust in you.

Praise the Lord! That is just what I needed this morning.

ML, There is just something about you and water this year. Maybe you should call an exorcist. Are there any that specialize in “water” problems?

I’m having a huge tree removed from the backyard and I’m trying to avoid watching - I’m intrigued by the process but at the same time, my heart races just watching. I thought it was likely 90’-100’ tall but the guy climbing it said 170’. I don’t have a vantage point where I can see the top of it without going outside but I’ll stay on the back porch and suffer a stiff neck. The tree has decayed so I had no choice but to bite the bullet so to speak!

We are surrounded by trees - ALL TALL - and one fell on our neighbor’s house in 2017 during a storm and I don’t want to go through what she went through. She was out of her house for a year while it was put back together and when she was able to move back in, her home was burglarized when she was at work.

Hope you’re able to get back to normal today!!! It’s true it only takes glancing around our surroundings to see people facing some kind of problem.
