ROME, Italy (LifeSiteNews) — Called the “new Pieta,” a “blasphemous” version of Michelangelo’s famous Pieta has been unveiled in a Roman basilica, depicting a muscular older man holding a younger man, both of whom are completely naked.
The “new Pieta” was sculpted by Italian artist Jacopo “Jago” Cardillo during the COVID-related lockdowns, and is situated in the Chapel of the Crucifix, in the basilica of Santa Maria in Montesanto in the Piazza del Populo.
Michelangelo’s Pieta shows the Blessed Virgin holding Christ after His descent from the cross, with Mary fully and modestly clothed, and Christ’s modesty covered with the loincloth. Michelangelo’s work has been noted to show how “the beautiful figures of the Virgin Mary and Jesus are echoing the beauty of the Divine.”
In contrast, Jago’s version appears to depict two men. An older, very muscular, bald man bends on one knee, while holding in his arms a younger man with long hair. A sculpted piece of fabric is draped over the older man’s bended knee, but both figures are fully unclothed.

Seems disrespectful to me.
This is Lucifers role, taking what is good and distorting it for evil.
And yet, we are supposed to consider this “art”.
Piss Christ was supposed to be art.
The statue of the Virgin Mary covered in dung was said to be art.
They put us in the position, where we are called bigoted, intolerant etc., basically deplorable, if we object to their “artistic expression”.
Cultural appropriation, burn him at the stake.
I sort of think the artist is missing the real point.
That’s all the art world knows how to do anymore is mock Christianity or conservatism for validation from others in the art community. There are no original ideas anymore.
Well it does reflect the culture of the populations today......and sexual art is not new to the Catholic Churches.
Pope John Paul II oversaw the cleaning and artistic restoration of the Sistine Chapel between 1984 and 1994 and directly asked that added on veils and fig leaves ‘be removed’ in order to reveal human bodies in full nudity.
He believed the human body should be appreciated.

Blasphemy. God already knew this artist was going to do this before he was even born. Repenting, asking for forgiveness, and believing on the Lord Jesus Christ is the only way for anyone to have eternal life in heaven. Pray the Lord sends someone to intervene in this man’s life.
