That was a good movie. I believe it was one of ABC's "Movie of the Week" from the early 1970's.

I remembered "Tribes" from my childhood and was delighted a few months ago to watch it again on YouTube.

I’m not a Catholic. But that man was a no-holds barred hero. Father Junipero Serra was a brave pious man who demonstrated unbelievable bravery, endurance, humility and lived his life for Christ. The California missions changed the world and America ultimately. He wasn’t perfect, but in the mid-1700s he was one of the better people you could have met...including Indians.

Sickening to see that man disparaged.
