What would be better is, go to the reservations in Morongo Valley and drill wells for the poor Native Americans to have drinking water. A statue or memorial means nothing. Water gives life. Sacramento has no priorities

Father Serra's mission trail eventually became the 101.
The indian statue should include a chuck-a-luck cage, poker chips, and an empty liquor bottle.

Is this one of those tribes that would stampede a herd of buffalo off a steep cliff in order to kill them off for food and furs?

How did they become “Native Americans”?
Did they spring from the earth like dandelions?
Or perhaps their ancestors wandered across the Bering Straights?

I’m not a Catholic. But that man was a no-holds barred hero. Father Junipero Serra was a brave pious man who demonstrated unbelievable bravery, endurance, humility and lived his life for Christ. The California missions changed the world and America ultimately. He wasn’t perfect, but in the mid-1700s he was one of the better people you could have met...including Indians.
Sickening to see that man disparaged.

There is not a single survivor that met that Father. Not a one.

Their ancestors were from Asia.
First peoples? Maybe. But “native Americans?” Meh.
