Faith Is A Simple Test: To Find Out If You Are Teachable?
"Have faith in God"
If it turns out that you are not teachable,
then obviously you know more than God knows
and there will be no place for you in God's Heaven.
Heaven can have only one Supreme Being.
A Supreme Being that will never consent to become a student
to be taught wisdom and truths by one of His creatures.
Jesus said, "Have faith in God." {Mark 11:22}
And you say? :
(1) I will.
or
{2) I will not.

I really like your view.
When the person teaching is wrong, it takes faith to stand against them.
But with the various terms that were translated into "faith" I think there was more going on than just being teachable--although I think being teachable was usually an important component.
In some usages, Faith means not letting emotional situations cause you to doubt what you have good solid grounds to believe. For example you may be very convinced for good rational reasons and evidence that a roller coaster is safe...but if you are afraid of roller coasters it still takes faith in your knowledge to get you to board it. You may know that God is real for good solid rational reasons, but when a very hot girl, the kind you really wish you could have scored with before you got married gives you a very personal offer with no strings attached...you may be tempted to wonder if all that church stuff is really real, because she is so hot and she is right there, and so forth. Your very faith in the deeper rewards of the Kingdom of God than what the flesh can offer is tested. Do you trust your body or do you trust your knowledge of the Kingdom of God. Your ability to do the latter is the virtue of faith, and it helps us resist sin and falling short of how God wants us to live.
In heaven we will subservient to God. Do you think there are going to be elections, God versus Moses? It is Peter’s turn to run. LOL.
Being subservient is good because being in charge creates a lot of headaches.
So many women bristle at being submissive to their husbands yet we all are going to be submissive to God for eternity if we make it to heaven.
To be teachable you have to be willing to listen...
How many of those so called ‘church leaders who rush out and got Joe’s Jabs and instructed their cult followers to do the same bothered to wait and hear what God would say ???
You are not going to CHOOSE Jesus unless you have faith IN HIM.
Once you HAVE chosen Him, your name is written in HIS BOOK.
You are HIS... Sealed unto His Spirit for Redemption... HIS possession which cannot be stolen from Him by any force in the universe.
Now... From that point forward, He perfects our FAITH in following Him, but our failures to increase our faith does NOT Revoke our salvation, or the FAITH we had in receiving His Grace to begin with.
Once we confuse faith that perfects us with faith through which we are saved, we are vulnerable to deception which disables our witness.
Yes!
That is exactly how Charlie Manson gathered his flock!
Test people for their willingness to believe random things, and then manipulate them to tithe, or murder pregnant women.
And to Andy's point of the word "faith" being from different terms, the Greek word "pistis" for faith is in many places that has to do with miracles. For example, in 1st Corinthians 12 it's listed as one of many miraculous spiritual gifts (as opposed to other spiritual gifts like in Romans 12 and Ephesians 4). Likewise in the countless times Jesus said, "Go, your faith has healed you." I don't think it means faith for salvation is only if God gives us that gift (a Calvinist perspective), especially with John 3:16's Greek word for "believes" being "pisteuo" (although in the Strong's dictionary the distinction between pisteuo and pistis is pisteuo is a verb while pisits is a noun). But at the very least, miraculous faith is a gift that some have while others don't -- even if others have other gifts instead (i.e. healing, tongues, casting out demons, listed in 1st Corinthians 12, as gifts the Holy Spirit gives to different people and giving whichever one to whomever He thinks is best).
At least that's my take on not going to the absolutes in believing faith = humility = faith / pride = no faith = pride.
Faith is leaving to be silent while the storm around us rages and threatens to capsize us. We need the storms to find out what true faith is. A yone can be content with God when he is showing down blessings. Faith knows that even while in a desert dying of thirst, there is the river of life which will, sustain us for eternity awaiting us in heaven if we should perish here on earth.
Faith is also knowing that God will answer at the best possible moment, and not a moment too late or too soon. We may not understand his answer, but Faith assures us it is the correct one.
Faith cries out “though he slay me, yet will I trust, trust, him”. Though the boat go down in the storm, yet we can trust that God has a reason for it (Paul was shipwrecked several times and almost died). God doesn’t always save the ship or our lives, but he does promise that there is eternal rest for,us in glory,if we do perish. Faith is resting in that promise even while, the storm Rages around us
Faith is LEARNING to be silent,, not leaving to be silent lol.
nice
James 2
What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith , and have not works? can faith save him?
Even so faith , if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
2 Cor 13:5
Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith.
i am not sure if you are saying that the reason you believe people are not teachable is because they think they know more than God?
I wouldn't pretend to know what God would say to anyone, other than perhaps myself and only after a lot of prayer, introspection and listening.
Your statement is very judgemental against everyone who may disagree with you, without knowing anyone's individual circumstances. God knows them, you do not.
The Bible speaks of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Is there a supreme being among these three?
If so, which one?
If not, can one of them learn something from the other?
1 Cor 2:10b
for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
Why would the Holy Spirit be searching the deep things of God? What would the Holy Spirit be looking for?
There are many reasons why people have difficulty accepting truth, not just because they are unteachable.
So many women bristle at being submissive to their husbands
Now there you go opening up a whole new can of worms. /s
One wonders how many people really will want to go to heaven.
It seems like many people expect to be on a cruise with God taking care of everything.
I remember a Twilight Zone episode where the crook thought he was in heaven because he received everything he wanted and was bored and wanted to go to hell. Turned out he was in Hell. Many people would have a hard time understanding that episode today.
The OP assumed that it would be God (or His appointees) doing the teaching? Remember this from the OP? : “Have faith in God” Mark 11:22
Thanks.
And thanks for reading the OP.
Best.
