“For these reasons, I will not issue, and I have directed our clergy not to issue, any Letters of Religious exemption because it would contradict the clear objective teaching of the Catholic Church and the Holy See on this matter,” Bishop Garcia wrote.
MONTEREY, Calif. — Bishop Daniel Garcia of Monterey on Friday directed clergy not to provide letters of religious exemption for Catholics wishing not to receive a coronavirus vaccine.
“Pope Francis has highly encouraged the vaccination as an act of safeguarding one’s own health as well as that of others – pointing us to the importance of the common good, such a key element of Catholic Social Teaching,” Bishop Garcia wrote in his Aug. 13 letter, adding that “the Bishops of California have also encouraged vaccination for the same reasons.”

States and employers across the country have rolled out COVID-19 vaccine mandates in recent weeks. Last week, California became the first state to require all teachers, both public and private, to get the vaccine or else submit to weekly testing. Healthcare workers in California will soon be required to take the vaccine as well, though that order does include a religious exemption.
Before and as COVID-19 vaccines began to roll out, some Catholics raised concerns about the drugs’ remote connection to aborted fetal tissue. Those produced by Pfizer and Moderna were tested on cell lines derived from elective abortions decades ago, while the vaccine created by Johnson & Johnson was directly produced using the cell lines.

These are quite literally scum!
God doesn't wish the death of sinners, according to the Bible, but it appears that Francis bishops do...a number of those forced to accept the vaccine will die from it who otherwise would have enjoyed a longer life.
My pastor (Messianic Christian), along with two medical professionals, has written a letter for our congregation’s HR concerning religious exemption.
Whatever this “bishop” says is....crap.
I didn’t know Franciscan Bishops supported NAZI style human experiments
Catholic medico/ moral ethics have always put health care decisions in the hands of the competent, conscious patient alone or if patient is a minor or incompetent, in the hands of parents or closest kin.
These bishops have apparently lost their own faith. There is nothing requiring a “permission slip” from a priest.
Pray for all who are standing up against these Godless requirements. Hubbie just hit “submit” on his own claim of religious exemption.
God save us all.
Why does anyone need a letter granting them a religious exemption? Any individual should be completely excused on conscience grounds, not religious grounds.
Some employers, school districts, etc require religious exemptions from the petitioner’s “verified” priest/minister/ rabbi, etc. They won’t accept the petitioner’s “personal conscience” as an excuse.
The fact that these organizations require any type of exemption is reprehensible.
Very strange since cardinal Burke is gasping for life as we speak. Not sure why you are insinuating that only vaccinated are dying. People who call the coronavirus a hoax are also dying. Governor Abbott of all people just went and got himself positive. Of course he’s getting the best medical treatment money can buy. A lucky one.
I never said anything to the effect that only the vaccinated are dying. Of course every day more people die of other causes in the US than from Covid, and most people who get Covid do not die from it, but of those who do die from Covid, some are vaccinated and some are unvaccinated. Supposedly being vaccinated means you are less likely to die if you get Covid, but it certainly isn’t always true. I was referring to people who did not already have Covid and got vaccinated and then died afterwards, apparently as a result of the vaccine.
Word is, Abbott was vaccinated.
