Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Psalm 132

A song of ascents.

1  Lord, remember David
    and all his self-denial.

2  He swore an oath to the Lord,
    he made a vow to the Mighty One of Jacob:

3  “I will not enter my house
    or go to my bed,

4  I will allow no sleep to my eyes
    or slumber to my eyelids,

5  till I find a place for the Lord,
    a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob.”

6  We heard it in Ephrathah,
    we came upon it in the fields of Jaar:[a]

7  “Let us go to his dwelling place,
    let us worship at his footstool, saying,

8  ‘Arise, Lord, and come to your resting place,
    you and the ark of your might.

9  May your priests be clothed with your righteousness;
    may your faithful people sing for joy.’”

10  For the sake of your servant David,
    do not reject your anointed one.

11  The Lord swore an oath to David,
    a sure oath he will not revoke:
“One of your own descendants
    I will place on your throne.

12  If your sons keep my covenant
    and the statutes I teach them,
then their sons will sit
    on your throne for ever and ever.”

13  For the Lord has chosen Zion,
    he has desired it for his dwelling, saying, 14  “This is my resting place for ever and ever;
    here I will sit enthroned, for I have desired it.

15  I will bless her with abundant provisions;
    her poor I will satisfy with food.

16  I will clothe her priests with salvation,
    and her faithful people will ever sing for joy.

17  “Here I will make a horn[b] grow for David
    and set up a lamp for my anointed one.

18  I will clothe his enemies with shame,
    but his head will be adorned with a radiant crown.”

Footnotes

a Psalm 132:6 Or heard of it in Ephrathah, / we found it in the fields of Jearim. (See 1 Chron. 13:5,6) (And no quotation marks around verses 7-9)
b Psalm 132:17 Horn here symbolizes strong one, that is, king.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

A Song of Ascents.

Our Father In Heaven,
Hallowed and Sanctified is Your Most Holy Name!
It Is You Who Made Us,
And Everything That Exists,
From the Giant Galaxies,
To The intricate DNA Molecule.
You Are The Great Designer,
And The Universe is Your Canvas!

1. LORD, remember David And all his afflictions; 2. How he swore to the LORD,
And vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob:
3. “Surely I will not go into the chamber of my house,
Or go up to the comfort of my bed;
4. I will not give sleep to my eyes
Or slumber to my eyelids,
5. Until I find a place for the LORD,
A dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob.”

Abba Father,
Your Servant David, the Sweet Psalmist of Israel,
A Man After Your Own Heart,
Wanted So MUCH to build a House For You.
"Why Should I live in a Palace," he said,
"While The King of The Universe lives in a TENT?"
Yet, because of David's sins,
You did not allow him to achieve this goal,
And had Solomon build Your Temple instead.
How Often do we ourselves set Great Goals
Of Wondrous Things We Intend to do for YOU,
When YOUR Will is To Dwell in The Sanctuary of Our Hearts,
And For us To Make OUR Bodies The Temple of Your Holy Spirit,
To Treat YOUR Creation With Dignity and Respect for Life,
Worshiping YOU, and not the THINGS that Your Hands Have Made.

6. Behold, we heard of it in Ephrathah;
We found it in the fields of the woods.
7. Let us go into His tabernacle;
Let us worship at His footstool.
8. Arise, O LORD, to Your resting place,
You and the ark of Your strength.
9. Let Your priests be clothed with righteousness,
And let Your saints shout for joy.

10. For Your servant David’s sake,
Do not turn away the face of Your Anointed.

Father, We Praise You Joyfully,
Everywhere we Find Ourselves!
We Worship at Your Footstool,
We Sing Of Your Glory!
We Thank You For Your Holy Word,
Which You Have meticulously preserved for us,
By Your Holy Spirit,
Through Your Jewish People.
We Pray For Them Now,
As We See the Whole World Turning on Them.
For Your Servant David's Sake,
Do Not Turn Your Face From Them!

11. The LORD has sworn in truth to David;
He will not turn from it:
“I will set upon your throne the fruit of your body.
12. If your sons will keep My covenant
And My testimony which I shall teach them,
Their sons also shall sit upon your throne forevermore.”

Thank You, Father,
For Your Word,
For Your Will,
For Your Promise,
For Your Messiah.

13. For the LORD has chosen Zion;
He has desired it for His dwelling place:
14. “This is My resting place forever;
Here I will dwell, for I have desired it.
15. I will abundantly bless her provision;
I will satisfy her poor with bread.
16. I will also clothe her priests with salvation,
And her saints shall shout aloud for joy.
17. There I will make the horn of David grow;
I will prepare a lamp for My Anointed.
18. His enemies I will clothe with shame,
But upon Himself His crown shall flourish.”

Let All That Has Been Concealed,
Be Revealed.

LORD, We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Beseech You on Behalf of Our Captive Brethren,
Christians and Jews,
In Bondage in Hostile lands.

We Pray For Our Beloved USA
We Ask That Your People Receive Wisdom from You
To do the Right Thing.
We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Psalm 115

1 Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name give glory,
for the sake of your steadfast love and your faithfulness.
2 Why should the nations say,
‘Where is their God?’

3 Our God is in the heavens;
he does whatever he pleases.
4 Their idols are silver and gold,
the work of human hands.
5 They have mouths, but do not speak;
eyes, but do not see.
6 They have ears, but do not hear;
noses, but do not smell.
7 They have hands, but do not feel;
feet, but do not walk;
they make no sound in their throats.
8 Those who make them are like them;
so are all who trust in them.

9 O Israel, trust in the Lord!
He is their help and their shield.
10 O house of Aaron, trust in the Lord!
He is their help and their shield.
11 You who fear the Lord, trust in the Lord!
He is their help and their shield.

12 The Lord has been mindful of us; he will bless us;
he will bless the house of Israel;
he will bless the house of Aaron;
13 he will bless those who fear the Lord,
both small and great.

14 May the Lord give you increase,
both you and your children.
15 May you be blessed by the Lord,
who made heaven and earth.

16 The heavens are the Lord’s heavens,
but the earth he has given to human beings.
17 The dead do not praise the Lord,
nor do any that go down into silence.
18 But we will bless the Lord
from this time on and for evermore.
Praise the Lord!

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Last Saturday, I took advantage of the hot weather to ride my motorcycle around the South Shore and visit a few Yard Sales. As I was crossing a busy intersection, an elderly couple cut me off taking a "Right on Red". After screeching to a halt to avoid a possibly fatal collision, I followed the offending car until they pulled over. I was furious, but I felt a strange calm and restraint as I approached the driver. Instead of exploding with fury, I calmly said:

"Perhaps you didn't see me, but you must know that, in taking a Right-on-Red, you are supposed to YIELD to oncoming traffic."

The driver hung his head in shame and apologized. He HAD seen me, but chose to try to beat me through the intersection. He admitted he was wrong. I told him to have a nice day and rode away.

During my "Hot Pursuit" of the perpetrator, I noticed a Yard Sale about a mile back and so I "banged a Yuwie" and rode back to the spot.

Most of the goods were too big to fit on the bike, but on the corner of the table sat a brand new pair of beautiful hiking boots. They were even nicer than the $80.00 boots that I had purchased recently, but these were so good-looking that I would have gladly paid $30.00 (My Entire Yard Sale Budget) for these, if they fit. So, in my helmet and visor and denim jacket, in 90 degree weather, I sat on the ground, peeled off my boots, and tried them on. They Fit! "How Much?" I asked. Five Bucks? the man said. Great! I had a few bucks to spare. I bought a marble cutting board that just happened to have my monogram on it and stuffed the shoes and the cutting board into my saddlebag. I hit a few more yard sales and got an Eric Clapton CD and some jeans, but the hiking shoes were my favorite. I've been wearing them ever since, as they are VERY comfortable.

Last Night, my sister looked up the logo on the bottom of the shoe and informed me that they are "Designer Cole Haan hiking shoes that retail for $250.00."

Somehow, I have a weird notion that the Holy Spirit guided the whole scenario, from the senior citizen cutting me off, causing me to follow him, to my noticing the Yard Sale while I was in pursuit, to my self-control when confronting the offender, to the contriteness of heart and forgiveness that followed, to the U-Turn and the Yard Sale with the awesome shoes.

Just Sayin'.

The Lord works in mysterious ways . . . Sometimes it isn’t until long after that we understand His Ways.

Indeed! Sometimes it shows up years later.

That’s where Faith comes in.
