WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. Supreme Court declined Monday to hear a lawsuit by a Maine church that sought to take a preemptive strike against future restrictions associated with a variant of the virus that’s spreading across the country.

Calvary Chapel in Orrington asked the U.S. Supreme Court to stop Democratic Gov. Janet Mills from enforcing or reinstating any pandemic-related restrictions due to the delta variant of the coronavirus.

The request was denied by Justice Stephen Breyer without even asking the other side to respond or asking his colleagues to get involved.

“Church’s Attack on COVID Restrictions”

No bias there. None at all.

“Hey, looks like we might have an opportunity to do some good here.”
“So, we’ll take a pass?”
“Oh, yeah. Hard pass on this one.”

The Court does not work in hypotheticals or might-happens. All of the courts deal with cases and controversies.

I must say that Calvary Chapel Churches are leading the fight for religious freedom in America.

Don’t know why the left fought so hard against Trump’s Supreme Court nominees. Turns out they’re as bad as the leftist justices.

Now is the time for the members of the church to talk to the mayor, police chief, sheriff, and other local politicians. It’s a small town. Find out if they will arrest any of the congregation for peacefully protesting any asinine laws that come down the pike. Tell them to think about their upcoming actions. Do it before the next lockdown comes.

Uh, “SCOTUS” didn’t do or not do anything. Justice Breyer did.

Congrats, you read the AssPress’s headline and didn’t even read past that. SCOTUS didn’t do anything here.

You’re right. Simply put, there is no case to be heard. Nothing has been done here. There is no action to be taken. This was a very ill-advised suit. Never mind don’t shoot till you see the whites of their eyes, don’t shoot your wad when you’re the only ones on the battlefield.

Wow. It's nice to know the court is interested in the legal foundation of what faces every day americans as we go about keeping their lifestyle in DC.

Shameless is not just a television show.

When it comes to SCOTUS, doing nothing is actually doing something.

It comes with the territory.

Considering the state had recently locked down churches, it seems reasonable to seek prevention of that happening again.

Calvary Chapels are among my go to sites when I’m looking into passages of scripture. In the long run, though, it’s hard to beat the 1990’s Chuck Smith.

Well, the members of the Court have unanimously signed onto the the rules that allows Breyer to do this and each of the nine has the opportunity to issue a written statement regarding Breyer’s action - none have. It is also in line with the Court not taking hypotheticals.
