Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Psalm 119

ת Taw

169  May my cry come before you, Lord;
    give me understanding according to your word.

170  May my supplication come before you;
    deliver me according to your promise.

171  May my lips overflow with praise,
    for you teach me your decrees.

172  May my tongue sing of your word,
    for all your commands are righteous.

173  May your hand be ready to help me,
    for I have chosen your precepts.

174  I long for your salvation, Lord,
    and your law gives me delight.

175  Let me live that I may praise you,
    and may your laws sustain me.

176  I have strayed like a lost sheep.
    Seek your servant,
    for I have not forgotten your commands.

New International Version (NIV)(End of Scripture Passage)

This is the last Stanza in Psalm 119.

Thy Sheep Have Gone Astray, Oh Shepherd of Israel.
They are in Danger, Dispersed and Exposed
To Total Destruction.
Turn Our Hearts To You, and Show Us Your Way,
That we may walk in it.
Thank You For Sharing Your Will For Us
Through Your Word,
That We May Grow in You, and Come to Know You
Through the Enlightenment of Your Holy Precepts!
Truth is not negotiable- It just IS, and You ARE the GREAT I AM,
The Same Yesterday
Today and Forever. Your
Throne, Oh LORD, Is From Everlasting to Everlasting!
Thanksgiving and Worship are Offered to You Alone, For You Alone Are
The One True God.
There Is No Other.

Let All That Has Been Concealed,
Be Revealed.

LORD, We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Beseech You on Behalf of Our Captive Brethren,
Christians and Jews,
In Bondage in Hostile lands.

We Pray For Our Beloved USA
We Ask That Your People Receive Wisdom from You
To do the Right Thing.
We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

And There You Have it.

Psalm 119 ends on the Last letter of the Hebrew Aleph~Beth, which is "Tav".

Tav is the 22nd letter, similar to the English "T" or "Th", and has a Numerical Value of 400. In Proto-Hebrew, it looked like an "X" and developed into the Greek Letter "Tau".

"Aleph~Tav" Appears in the Opening Verse of the Torah, Right in the Center of the Seven Words. (In The Beginning G-d ..Aleph~Tav..Created The Heavens and The Earth). It is the A to Z, the Beginning and the End, The Aleph-Tav, in the Center Position, like the Elevated Candle on the Menorah.

The Stanza Opens with "Let My Cry Come Before You, O LORD"
This is not the usually word for "cry", but a shrill, almost shrieking cry to God.
The Psalm has reached a Crescendo, as it is coming to an end.

The Next two Verse plead for wisdom, understanding, and deliverance "ACCORDING TO THY WORD".
Some Translations say "According to Thy Promise."
And that is EXACTLY How we are to Pray,
According to The Word and Promise of God.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America!

Psalm 10

1 Why, O Lord, do you stand far off?
Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?
2 In arrogance the wicked persecute the poor—
let them be caught in the schemes they have devised.

3 For the wicked boast of the desires of their heart,
those greedy for gain curse and renounce the Lord.
4 In the pride of their countenance the wicked say, ‘God will not seek it out’;
all their thoughts are, ‘There is no God.’

5 Their ways prosper at all times;
your judgements are on high, out of their sight;
as for their foes, they scoff at them.
6 They think in their heart, ‘We shall not be moved;
throughout all generations we shall not meet adversity.’

7 Their mouths are filled with cursing and deceit and oppression;
under their tongues are mischief and iniquity.
8 They sit in ambush in the villages;
in hiding-places they murder the innocent.

Their eyes stealthily watch for the helpless;
9 they lurk in secret like a lion in its covert;
they lurk that they may seize the poor;
they seize the poor and drag them off in their net.

10 They stoop, they crouch,
and the helpless fall by their might.
11 They think in their heart, ‘God has forgotten,
he has hidden his face, he will never see it.’

12 Rise up, O Lord; O God, lift up your hand;
do not forget the oppressed.
13 Why do the wicked renounce God,
and say in their hearts, ‘You will not call us to account’?

14 But you do see! Indeed you note trouble and grief,
that you may take it into your hands;
the helpless commit themselves to you;
you have been the helper of the orphan.

15 Break the arm of the wicked and evildoers;
seek out their wickedness until you find none.
16 The Lord is king for ever and ever;
the nations shall perish from his land.

17 O Lord, you will hear the desire of the meek;
you will strengthen their heart, you will incline your ear
18 to do justice for the orphan and the oppressed,
so that those from earth may strike terror no more.*

To: All

I remember the first time I read Psalms. When I got to Psalm 119, it was like hitting a huge roadblock. First of all, it is the longest chapter in the entire Bible. That alone was daunting. Then there were these cryptic Hebrew Letters every couple of verses. I had no idea what that meant. Then, as I read verse after verse praising and extolling God’s LAW! Well, I had just been saved from the “Law” so what was this to me? I was a brand-new Christian, reading the Psalms straight through for the first time in my life, and it was all new to me. I soldiered on and read it, but was glad when it was over.

That was 40 years ago. The world from which I was saved was one of hedonistic lawlessness (hippie/biker so you get what I mean). I knew I was freed from the Law of Sin and Death, and robed in the righteousness of Christ. My sins were forgiven, and I was a New Creature. I did NOT understand the meaning of this Psalm. I just chalked it up to “Old Testament” and left it at that. For nearly 30 years, I read it in that context.

Now, let’s flash back ten years ago to this Thread in its infancy. In our first journey through the book of Psalms, we studied each one in depth until we came to the BIG ROADBLOCK, Psalm 119. I decided to dig more deeply into it and take it one stanza at a time.

It was then that I learned that Psalm 119 was an Acrostic with 22 Stanzas, eack line in the stanza beginning with the designated Letter of the Hebrew Alphabet. That, in and of itself, was a Masterwork. No English Translation could convey the genius of this one little point. I made an attempt to compose prayers using the same consonet in each line, and I managed to find those prayers and post them in this thread. They pale in comparison to this Great Poem, but I tried. I am confident that the Holy Spirit helped me out, and so felt confident to share them again.

The biggest hurdle was the Psalm’s insistance upon the LAW. I am not an “antinomian” by any means, but this seemed to go against my Freedom in Christ.

On the first study, though, back in 2010, I realized that “Law” was also “God’s Precepts”, “God’s Word”, “God’s Ways” and “God’s Desires”. When we are in Christ, we walk in faith and naturally WANT to live in accordance with God’s Desires. God wants the Best for us, and it is a pleasure to walk with Him.

That’s why the Psalmist says, “Oh how I LOVE God’s Law!”. We walk with God, and His Desires become our own.

We walk according to his Will, because we GET TO, not because we HAVE TO.

And now, Psalm 119 is one of my favorites! Each Letter represents something all by itself, and then the resulting verse enlarges upon it. God’s Word can bring Comfort, Nourishment, Power, Authority, Healing, Wisdom, and Strength.

Here’s hoping I have been able to share that with you!

(((HUGS)))
