Ex-Cardinal Theodore McCarrick charged with molesting teen boy in 1974

Ex-Cardinal Theodore McCarrick — the former archbishop of Washington, DC, who was kicked out of the priesthood over sex abuse allegations — has been charged with molesting a teenage boy in Massachusetts in the 1970s.

The charges filed Wednesday make McCarrick, 91, the highest-ranking Roman Catholic official in the US to face criminal raps in the clergy sex abuse scandal, according to the Boston Globe.

The predatory priest is accused of groping a 16-year-old boy’s genitals on June 8, 1974, during the wedding reception of the teen’s brother at Wellesley College.

McCarrick allegedly told the boy that he “needed to go to confession” and led him into a room, where he proceeded to assault him while “saying prayers to make me feel holy,” the teen told police.

The investigation into McCarrick began in January after the alleged victim’s attorney, Mitchell Garabedian, wrote letters to the Norfolk and Middlesex district attorneys.

It’s great that justice is being served, at least so far, but how long is the SOL in MA? How could you ever prove such a thing without a confession or direct video evidence?

And don't forget to TRUST THE PLAN!

Why wait this long? Is it because memories tend to get splintered and frayed over time? He said He said.
To molest, is of course wrong, but to wait this long invites confusion and incidents that cannot be proven or disproven.

Molesting the boy while saying prayers to make him feel holy.

OH...MY...GOSH! That is so damn evil.

I can just imagine the nightmares the guy has had. How this perverted his perception of God.

That makes my heart ache.

I feel no sympathy for the church anymore. They brought this upon themselves with their infiltration by pedophiles and acceptance of many evil things.

“Uncle Ted” McCarrick most certainly was/is a liberal Democrat.

What could possibly go wrong?
Hire men, don’t let them get married, let them wear dresses and jewelry on the job, and tell everyone they are doing God’s work.
The Catholic Church should be relegated to history.

Of course, no mention in this piece of the role “Uncle Ted” played in engineering Bergoglio’s election in 2013... or his being Bergoglio’s special envoy to China.

Who knows if this latest allegation is true. But McCarrick is definitely a predator. Now, here’s what bothers me. McCarrick was made a cardinal by Pope John Paul II. So either:

A. John Paul was incredibly - and dangerously - naive.
B. John Paul knew, but didn’t care.

Either possibility bothers me, as I once had great respect for John Paul.

This is a way they justify the encounter.

Eros love is still a form of love. Combining it with the other forms, and having no prohibition of gay sex by the clergy or hierarchy of the Catholic church in its Traditions, makes it justifiable and good.

It’s not terribly unlike Muslims who claim sex with boys or animals is holy and permissible, as they are not seemingly attracted to them over women, so those outlets are also “holy.” Of course, some are attracted to boys or animals, and these people have all the ability to say they stay “holy” in their perversions.

If you doubt the Traditions side of it with the Catholic church hierarchy, I will also maintain there are no prohibitions on owning an Apple iPhone in any Catholic Tradition.

It’s interesting what can be justified by mincing words to one’s advantage (not that an iPhone is in such need of justification).

Not sure I totally agree. The Holy Spirit convicts when we step into sin. We can in our minds justify it, but in our heart of hearts...we know.

This is pure evil. What better way would satan attack the body of Christ than from within. What better way to steal souls from God than to turn them against Him by this sort of evil.

It’s spiritual warfare.

Oh, it's evil, without a doubt.

I am not saying any of the examples is truly holy, but words can justify all sorts of wrongs.

God knows better, but the rest of us should, too, when wolves wear sheeps’ clothing.

I would think it was the first, but still not good.

Euphemisms are such handy things... for tyrants.

From Orwell's Politics and the English Language:
Consider for instance some comfortable English professor defending Russian totalitarianism. He cannot say outright, ‘I believe in killing off your opponents when you can get good results by doing so’. Probably, therefore, he will say something like this:

'While freely conceding that the Soviet regime exhibits certain features which the humanitarian may be inclined to deplore, we must, I think, agree that a certain curtailment of the right to political opposition is an unavoidable concomitant of transitional periods, and that the rigours which the Russian people have been called upon to undergo have been amply just died in the sphere of concrete achievement.’

These Abrahamic religious are just mythology and crass superstition.

The Church had been useful in uniting Europe against Islamic expansionism and with undermining communism in Eastern Europe which is ironic as Jesus (Greek translation of Hebrew name Yeshua) was a proto-communist who condemned the rich and blessed the poor.

I would say that Christianity has outlived it’s usefulness. Time to relegate superstition to the dustbin of history and move on.

JP2 was a great man, a genius and a saint. He was also (rare) pure of heart. He did not see individual evil characteristics in people, especially cunning men like Maciel and McCarrick, who were masters at deception.
