Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Psalm 119

ק Qoph

145  I call with all my heart; answer me, Lord,
    and I will obey your decrees.

146  I call out to you; save me
    and I will keep your statutes.

147  I rise before dawn and cry for help;
    I have put my hope in your word.

148  My eyes stay open through the watches of the night,
    that I may meditate on your promises.

149  Hear my voice in accordance with your love;
    preserve my life, Lord, according to your laws.

150  Those who devise wicked schemes are near,
    but they are far from your law.

151  Yet you are near, Lord,
    and all your commands are true.

152  Long ago I learned from your statutes
    that you established them to last forever.

Psalm 119 is an Acrostic, based upon the Hebrew Alphabet.

Amen !!! <><

Psalm 65

To the leader. A Psalm of David. A Song.

1 Praise is due to you,
O God, in Zion;
and to you shall vows be performed,
2 O you who answer prayer!
To you all flesh shall come.
3 When deeds of iniquity overwhelm us,
you forgive our transgressions.
4 Happy are those whom you choose and bring near
to live in your courts.
We shall be satisfied with the goodness of your house,
your holy temple.

5 By awesome deeds you answer us with deliverance,
O God of our salvation;
you are the hope of all the ends of the earth
and of the farthest seas.
6 By your* strength you established the mountains;
you are girded with might.
7 You silence the roaring of the seas,
the roaring of their waves,
the tumult of the peoples.
8 Those who live at earth’s farthest bounds are awed by your signs;
you make the gateways of the morning and the evening shout for joy.

9 You visit the earth and water it,
you greatly enrich it;
the river of God is full of water;
you provide the people with grain,
for so you have prepared it.
10 You water its furrows abundantly,
settling its ridges,
softening it with showers,
and blessing its growth.
11 You crown the year with your bounty;
your wagon tracks overflow with richness.
12 The pastures of the wilderness overflow,
the hills gird themselves with joy,
13 the meadows clothe themselves with flocks,
the valleys deck themselves with grain,
they shout and sing together for joy.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

It all started with the mouse. My little sister had made an awesome chili in a crock-pot, and left the ceramic inner pot in her sink overnight to soak. The next morning, she went to pour out the soapy water and saw a dead mouse in the pot. She immidiately went into total gross-out mode and called me in a panic.

I brought a Thermos of black coffee and rubber gloves and headed over to her house (a short walk) and performed the good deed of corpse removal. (That's what being a Big Sister is all about!). Since the crock Pot had been defiled, Sis threw the whole thing out. Then together we sanitized the kitchen and went out for breakfast.

Well, as we know, "No Good Deed Goes Unpunished", and the "Rat King" (you KNOW who I mean) must have induced one of his minions to go into my grease pipe through the dishwasher drain. This caused a fifty-foot waste pipe nestled in the wall of my mobile home to get clogged, and flooded my kitchen.

Undaunted, I called upon my dear friend Thaddeus (who we have prayed for on this thread) and he brought over a 25' snake. First he tried to clear the drain from inside. That didn't work. Then he crawled under the trailer to find a way to tap into the line. That didn't work. Then he went up on the roof and attempted to go through the vent pipe. That didn't work either. Thaddeus said he'd come back the next day, but late, because he had to work and had band practice afterward. So, OK, I would not use the kitchen at all and use the bathroom sink to wash dishes, etc. That was Friday.

Late Saturday afternoon, Thaddeus came back with the 25' foot snake and did the whole process again. He still was unable to dislodge the "clog". "Don't worry," said Thad, "I have to work tomorrow morning, and I will bring home my boss's 50' Auger. If THAT doesn't work, we will have to tear out the wall in your living room to access that pipe. But don't worry. I'll havee FIFTY FEET of snake, and the whole pipe is fifty feet long, so we'll get it!" I pressed some money into his hand and said, "PLEASE, take your wife out to dinner with this. I have church in the morning (I play bass) and so I won't be here till the afternoon either."

I went to bed with peace in my heart knowing that tomorrow this would be resolved. Around 3:00AM I was awakened by the sound of torrential rain. I closed my eyes and went back to sleep. In the morning I got up, got dressed for church and went to to walk the dog. I could still hear the rain, so I glanced out the window.The sky was grey, but it wasn't raining. I took the dog and went outside to witness a deluge coming out of the side of the house. It appeared that the entire WATER Main had broken, and was gushing out of the bottom of the trailer. In a panic, I crawled under the waterfall into the crawl space under my trailer in a vain attempt to turn off the water main. It wouldn't budge. Soaking wet, in my Church Clothes, I ran down the street and pounded on Thad's door. He came running back with me and determined that it was the water heater, which had rusted out and burst, allowing the City Water to gush right through it in a continuous stream. Thad crawled under the trailer and turned off the main feed and the gushing water stopped. Then we determined that there seemed to be no way to disconnect the Water Heater from the system, so the main feed had to STAY off until I could get the water heater replaced. Meanwhile, Thad had to go to work, and I had to go to church. The Water Heater was in no way connected to the clogged drain so, Thad could still work on that later in the afternoon.

Still in my damp church clothes, I got to rehearsal on time and played for the service. The church gave me a case of drinking water, and the Worship-Leader brought four more gallons of Spring Water to cook with and drink. I had used the last bottle of spring water in the fridge, which I had given to the dog.

After getting home from church I went to change. When I took off my shoes and walked around the bedroom, my socks got soaked. The carpet was sopping wet! The water had flooded my bedroom. I spread towels all over and tried to sop it up before things would get moldy.

My sister was on the phone with another sister, and told her my dilemma. THAT sister called my brother who rushed over with drying fans and a dehumidifier, and we started the process of drying out the rugs.

My other brother called and offered to try and disconnect the Water Heater, but by then the Plumber had made an appointment so I figured could get through one more day of drinking bottled water and flushing with "humidifier water".

Then Thad arrived from work with the 50' Auger which weighed over 150 lbs. Together, Thad and I hoisted the Auger up onto the roof and snaked all 50' down the drain through the vent pipe. The power of that marvelous machine finally cleared the clog. It also shook off the fascia boards on the roofline, as they had rotted and couldn't stand the shaking. OK, so now I have to find a carpenter and replace the fascia boards. BUT we opened the clog!

The plumbers and the insurandce appraiser are coming today. The bedroom smells musty, but the fans are going 24/ hours and the amount of water thay have soaked up is astounding. Since I don't have running water, I am using the humidifier bucket to flush the toilet. So far this debacle has involved:
Me.
My Dog.
Two Sisters.
Thaddeus.
Two Brothers.
My Pastor.
The Worship-Leader.
Another Neighbor who let me use their bathroom.
Home Depot
The Plumber
The Insurance Company.
A Carpenter.
And, now, YOU.
All this Tzouris over a DEAD MOUSE!

OK...let's get to Psalm 119. Today's Letter is "Qopf" or "Kopf". It is the 19th Letter in The Hebrew Alphabet, and its Numerical Equivalent is 100, the Number of Perfection.

The Word "HOLY" (Kadosh) and all the Words derived from it concerning Consecration, (Kiddush, Kaddish, etc), begin with this Letter of Perfection.

The Pictograph Represent the Back of The Head.

It suggests putting Behind what is Past, Leaving Behind that which is not of God, and Consecrating Ourselves to Serving Him.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

So glad you're retained your equanimity and humor. Apparently, you realize that (a) God remains in control and (b) He's on YOUR side.

Adding YOU to the J-prayer: AMEN!
