Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Psalm 119

כ Kaph

81  My soul faints with longing for your salvation,
    but I have put my hope in your word.

82  My eyes fail, looking for your promise;
    I say, “When will you comfort me?”

83  Though I am like a wineskin in the smoke,
    I do not forget your decrees.

84  How long must your servant wait?
    When will you punish my persecutors?

85  The arrogant dig pits to trap me,
    contrary to your law.

86  All your commands are trustworthy;
    help me, for I am being persecuted without cause.

87  They almost wiped me from the earth,
    but I have not forsaken your precepts.

88  In your unfailing love preserve my life,
    that I may obey the statutes of your mouth.

New International Version (NIV)(End of Scripture Passage)

Psalm 119 is an Acrostic, based upon the Hebrew Alphabet.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

King of Kings, and Lord of Lords,
Keep Your People In Your Tender Care.
Cover Them With The Sheltering
Canopy of Your Wings.
Conceal Them From Those Who hate Them Without Cause.
Carry Me, With Your Word, Away from This World Of Sorrow. What
Can I Do, Except Look To YOU for Help?
Create In Me a Loving, Receptive Spirit, an Open Hand, and a
Clean Heart Before You.
Consider Your Covenant With Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and
Crown Your Holy City Jerusalem With Your Glory!

Let All That Has Been Concealed,
Be Revealed.

LORD, We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Beseech You on Behalf of Our Captive Brethren,
Christians and Jews,
In Bondage in Hostile lands.

We Pray For Our Beloved USA
We Ask That Your People Receive Wisdom from You
To do the Right Thing.
We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Just last evening, a fellow FReeper posted a scene from Kurasawa's epic movie "The Seven Samurai". To my delight, there was a long string of responses from people reminiscing about the great Japanese Filmmaker, Spaghetti Westerns, other great movies, Shakespeare, and other film-geek subjects. I happen to be a big fan, but felt somewhat lonely in my fandom. Anyway, I had a rolicking good time online last night!

One of the key features of Kurasawa's film was Movement. Something was always in motion in the shot. There was no such thing as a "still". Either rain was falling, snow, smoke, fire, water, or people would be moving around. Two men could be arguing in a room. The men would be jumping up in rage, a woman would be puttering around behind them doing housework, and a torrent of rain would be visible through the window. In the original StarWars, we see an homage to this film style in several scenes, especially on the Death Star.

Psalm 119 is very much like that. There is so much going on. It is unfortunate that the Bible Translators are unable to capture the Acrostic Pattern by using words that use the same sound as the initial letters, but I understand the need for accuracy in translation in their choice of words. Nevertheless, the motion is always forward, as each stanza explores yet another wonderful quality of God's Inspired Word.

While "Yod" was a Clenched Hand of Power and Might, "Kaf" is an Open Hand of Largess, Reception, Giving and Receiving. It is The Letter of Deliverance and of being Fed. In Fact, the word "kaf" means "spoon" in Hebrew".

An Interesting line in the Psalm is this one:

For I have become like a wineskin in smoke..."

Smoke will dry out a wineskin and crack it. The Wine INSIDE will be ruined and lost.

New Wine is a Symbol Of His Spirit Within Us.

I was aware of the Christian Teaching of not putting "New Wine into Old Wineskins", but I had not realized that the Psalmist had sung of the Concept Centuries Earlier!

LORD Help us Remember that "Religion" is not just putting a "Patch" on a Dried Up Old Wineskin, but Something Alive, And Fresh, and New Every Morning, Like Precious Manna that You Offer us From Your Open Hand.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America!

Psalm 146

1 Praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord, O my soul!
2 I will praise the Lord as long as I live;
I will sing praises to my God all my life long.

3 Do not put your trust in princes,
in mortals, in whom there is no help.
4 When their breath departs, they return to the earth;
on that very day their plans perish.

5 Happy are those whose help is the God of Jacob,
whose hope is in the Lord their God,
6 who made heaven and earth,
the sea, and all that is in them;
who keeps faith for ever;
7 who executes justice for the oppressed;
who gives food to the hungry.

The Lord sets the prisoners free;
8 the Lord opens the eyes of the blind.
The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down;
the Lord loves the righteous.
9 The Lord watches over the strangers;
he upholds the orphan and the widow,
but the way of the wicked he brings to ruin.

10 The Lord will reign for ever,
your God, O Zion, for all generations.
Praise the Lord!
