Today, on the Feast of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Pope Francis dropped a bombshell regarding the Traditional Latin Mass. His apostolic letter titled Traditionis Custodes now requires a priest to receive permission from his bishop before celebrating the Extraordinary Form of the liturgy.
Prior to today, Pope Benedict XVI's motu proprio Summorum Pontificum gave priests explicit permission to celebrate the traditional Latin Mass without having to ask their bishops.
Benedict's letter, which accompanied the motu proprio, stated boldly and clearly concerning the Latin Mass: "What earlier generations held as sacred, remains sacred and great for us too, and it cannot be all of a sudden entirely forbidden or even considered harmful."
Today's news is certainly shocking to any traditional Catholics deeply in love with Our Lord and devoted to the traditional liturgy. But the ship must not be abandoned. There is still no salvation outside the Catholic Church. And man's duty to God still entails being a faithful Catholic and dying as a faithful Catholic. None of that has changed.
God's plan for our salvation doesn't change.GabTweet
Even if popes, bishops or priests view the Holy Mass as some kind of building-block set that can be deconstructed and rearranged without regard to the divine will and divine truth, God's plan for our salvation doesn't change.
The Feast of our Lady of Mt. Carmel — the mountain where God rained down fire and publicly humiliated the false prophets of Baal — reminds us regarding worship that Almighty God has something to say about all this, and is more ticked off at any injustice committed by Traditionis Custodes than any faithful Catholic. He also has more power to do something about it.
Let's stay tuned to see where this story goes.

Bergoglio’s stmts are not compatible with Benedict’s, they both cannot be true, and Benedict sure has more stature, credibility and holiness.
I’m just waiting for them to trot out some phonier-than-a-three-dollar-bill “statement” from Pope Emeritus B16 that he fully supports Bergoglio undoing his life’s work and extends his thanks to Jorge Humble for correcting the errors and chaos caused by Summorum Pontificum.
If a statement is forthcoming, it’ll come from Ganswein, the puppeteer.
False pope Benedict XVI made the decree just to placate parishioers who could jump to the only theologically viable position in the time of the great apostacy: sedevacantism.
I am Protestant, but I am joining you in prayer that God will indeed intervene for those Catholics who are my “brothers and sisters in Christ”, to protect you and uphold your faith.
What is going on in the Church is similar to what is going on politically. God will sort it all out and as a Catholic I am not worried. As long as I have access to Mass and the sacraments from a good priest, I see it as my job to keep strong in my own path with God, keep my own nose clean. I will not be distracted.
