Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Psalm 119

Psalm 119[a]

ב Beth 9  How can a young person stay on the path of purity?
    By living according to your word.

10  I seek you with all my heart;
    do not let me stray from your commands.

11  I have hidden your word in my heart
    that I might not sin against you.

12  Praise be to you, Lord;
    teach me your decrees.

13  With my lips I recount
    all the laws that come from your mouth.

14  I rejoice in following your statutes
    as one rejoices in great riches.

15  I meditate on your precepts
    and consider your ways.

16  I delight in your decrees;
    I will not neglect your word.

Blessed Are You, Oh LORD Our God!
Beginning and End of All Things,
Beloved Father, You have given us Your Perfect Way,
Before Our Eyes, Your Word Opens,
Behold, Your Precepts, Your Law, Your Statutes, Your Holy WORD!
Bread of Life, Every Day, Like Manna From Heaven,
Bringing Forth Your Fruit in Our Lives Day by Day,
By Hiding Your Word Deep Within Our Hearts,
Becoming More and More in Your Image,
By Praying For Your Holy City Jerusalem,
By Looking Earnestly For Messiah, and
Blessing Your People Israel, According To Your WORD and Promise.

Let All That Has Been Concealed,
Be Revealed.

LORD, We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Beseech You on Behalf of Our Captive Brethren,

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Ten years ago, when this thread was in its infancy, we tackled Psalm 119. At the time, I wrote a little Acrostic prayer for each letter as we studied the Psalm. It Wasn't EASY! Now, even though Free Republic has gone through many changes, even new servers, the Acrostic prayers are still in the Archives. That is a tribute to the JimRob and the People who keep FR up and running! And so, I am able to share those Acrostic Prayers with you in the prayer portion of this thread. Even though these prayers are ten years old, they come from my heart.

Beth, the second letter in the Hebrew Alphabet, makes a "B" sound (sometimes "V" with special inflection). The Word "Beth" means "House" in Hebrew such as in the name "Beth-le-Chem", (Bethlehem), the "House of Bread". We see "Beth" in use all the time, as we see synagogues with names such as "Beth Shalom"(House of Peace), "Beth Israel"(House of Israel), etc. How fitting that the "Beth Chapter" in Psalm 119 contains the verse "Thy Word I have hid in my heart, that I may not sin against Thee". For if indeed, our mortal bodies are a Temple or "House" for the LORD, we want to keep our hearts healthy and pure for Him. There is no better way for that than to immerse ourselves in His Holy Word, and take it deeply into our hearts.
