Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Psalm 111

Psalm 111[a]

1  Praise the Lord.[b] I will extol the Lord with all my heart
    in the council of the upright and in the assembly.

2  Great are the works of the Lord;
    they are pondered by all who delight in them.

3  Glorious and majestic are his deeds,
    and his righteousness endures forever.

4  He has caused his wonders to be remembered;
    the Lord is gracious and compassionate.

5  He provides food for those who fear him;
    he remembers his covenant forever.

6  He has shown his people the power of his works,
    giving them the lands of other nations.

7  The works of his hands are faithful and just;
    all his precepts are trustworthy.

8  They are established for ever and ever,
    enacted in faithfulness and uprightness.

9  He provided redemption for his people;
    he ordained his covenant forever—
    holy and awesome is his name.

10  The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
    all who follow his precepts have good understanding.
    To him belongs eternal praise.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

In the eleven years that I have been posting this Thread, I have made some mistakes, some retractions, some corrections, and some amazing discoveries. There have been a fair number of critics and trolls, and the Religion Moderator has done a wonderful job deleting inappropriate comments. It's been an "Interesting" eleven years to say the least!

At one time, during a study of Psalms, I came across a teaching concerning the Seven Psalms starting with Today's Psalm 111. These Psalms are all Praise Prayers, and include the word "Hallelujah". They are part of the Passover Liturgy and are refered to as "The Hallel" (There are more Psalms in the Hallel, but these are the core.) Some scholars noted that the Psalms in this section are arranged like the seven-branch Candelabra described in Exodus, which has become the symbol of the Modern State of Israel. Like the Candelabra, there are three short Hallelujah Psalms on either side of a longer one in the center. Since I am a visual artist, the idea appealed to me.

Now, we will never know on this side of Heaven, if the original author of these Psalms arranged them that way on purpose, or if it was arranged that way when the Psalms were compiled into books, or even if it was something some scholar happened to "notice". It doesn't change the meaning of the Psalms themselves, nor does it cause any harm. It's just a very cool and interesting thing to look at and enjoy.

And remember, the Omniscience of God, which is beyond our understanding, makes ANYTHING Possible!
