And Hitler never personally murdered anyone. Does he have a Halo and harp today?

Promoting, funding, assisting or condoning abortion is formal coopertion with evil, a grave sin.

Neither Nancy or Joe has had an abortion
Do you that as an absolute fact? I don't think so... Are you Married to her? Are you her doctor?
Certainly if she approves of killing a baby in the womb for others, she would approve of it for herself. We wouldn't want Nancy to be deemed hypocritical.
But you are right... The Priest is NOT a Judge... He is a Priest who has made a vow to uphold his Office. And that office has guidance- a lot of it.
For all the spiritual people out there - that "don't need a Church" and they have a DIY Faith life.... WELL ! Here is why you need the Church to interpret and apply the Word of God.
God will Judge her - not us.
Regardless of the high profile nature of these sinners- and were all sinners- the Priest can deny the Eucharist. Faithful divorced Catholics do not receive the Eucharist as well. The rules are there- the teaching of the Church - and are not open to personal wants and needs.
Aside from the obvious repentance required of our sins at confession...
Do I respect the life and dignity of every human person from conception through natural death?
Do I recognize the face of Christ reflected in all others around me whatever their race, class, age, or abilities?
Do I work to protect the dignity of others when it is being
threatened?
Am I committed to both protecting human life andto ensuring that every human being is able to live in dignity?
Answering affirmatively to the above IS required...
And the Priest is furthermore obligated to follow:
CANON 915:
THE DISCIPLINE REGARDING THE DENIAL OF HOLY COMMUNION
TO THOSE OBSTINATELY PERSEVERING IN MANIFEST GRAVE SIN
And understood centuries ago... before humans became so woke...
St. Thomas Aquinas, Summa Theologica, III:q 80: article 6
"A distinction must be made among sinners: some
are secret; others are notorious, EITHER from evidence of the
fact, as public usurers, or public robbers or from
being denounced as evil men by some ecclesiastical or civil tribunal.
Therefore Holy Communion ought not to be given to open sinners when they ask for it."

Joe and Jill
Went up the Hill
For a Holy Communion.
Joe fell down
And Broke his crown
And Jill excommunicated after.

Two wrongs don't make a right, but billions of wrongs do? Is that what you're trying to say?
The church has no right to judge...and make up rules for today’s society.
In that case, we might as well just close up shop. There's no point in preaching redemption if we're not allowed to call anything "sin"; we're selling something nobody needs.

Those rules
ARE applied to everyone.
ANY Catholic catechism will tell you that Catholics aren't to present themselves for Holy Communion if they have mortal sin on their souls; they're to repent and go to confession.
Amazed that I have to explain this on FR. Our civilization is truly lost.

Faithful divorced Catholics do not receive the Eucharist as well. A quibble: a "faithful divorced Catholic" can receive the Eucharist any time he or she wants.
A divorced Catholic who remarries outside the faith (that is, without a decree of nullity for the first marriage) cannot.

Yes.
And an important quibble... I should have been more specific.
Thanks for the correction.

Many people do not realize that the support of abortion, euthanasia, stem cell research and same-sex marriage are all included in the dems’ platform.
Never, ever, vote for a democrat because of this.

Are you saying that you don’t believe the Ten Commandments — one of which is “Thou shalt not kill.”??

Yeah, his first marriage was annulled in 1997. He’s clear ... on that count.
