Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Yesterday, one of my students showed me his new computer. His Dad works for "Big Tech" (we'll leave it at that) and so the boy has all the latest upgrades. And...he knows how to use every feature. He makes and edits movies, does multi-track recording, Special Effects, graphics, and so on. His fingers fly over the keyboard and the screen bursts with color and motion. Yesterday, we put together a song that had three sections, drums, bass, and piano, but no Title.
When I asked the nine-year-old boy what the song would be about, or what the melody would be, he drew a blank. So I got a piece of paper and wrote down some thoughts (Homework Assignment):
1. Listen to the Music. What does it remind you of? Are the chords happy or sad?
2. What's on your mind? What have you been thinking about? You spent a whole year "remote-learning" and now your finally back in school. But School ENDS next week! How does that make you feel?
3. Last Summer, you couldn't do anything because of the Lockdown. What are you going to do THIS summer?
The Boy still seemed to be unable to "think outside the box." So I gave him a hint: "How about calling the song "Cabin Fever?"
He liked that idea, but then added, "How about calling it "COVID CABIN FEVER"?
We both agreed that was cool. I told him to write down his ideas ON PAPER, and we would continue next week with the lyrics. We'll see what happens.
Seriously, I am not a Luddite when it comes to computers. I love that I am able to reach hundreds of people every day with this Thread. I love that I can do Multi-Track Audio Recordings in my own home. I am DELIGHTED that my students can video their lessons so they don't forget what I taught them this week. I especially love that I can look things up and rewatch important moments in History on the computer. It is one of the most useful and fascinating tools ever invented.
But there comes a time when we must think for ourselves. Although there are algorithms that can produce a poem or a melody, there is something missing. Without input from the human soul, the computer-generated art leaves me cold. That incredible spark of creativity, that is a constant throughout History, stretches back to the Cave Paintings and Petroglyphs of the Ancients, through every Civilization to the present day. It is my own little theory that "Creativity" is the thing that God put into us when he made us in His Own Image. And that is why we praise Him, because He is Worthy of Praise!
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)
