Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Psalm 94
Psalm 94
1 The Lord is a God who avenges.
O God who avenges, shine forth.
2 Rise up, Judge of the earth;
pay back to the proud what they deserve.
3 How long, Lord, will the wicked,
how long will the wicked be jubilant?
4 They pour out arrogant words;
all the evildoers are full of boasting.
5 They crush your people, Lord;
they oppress your inheritance.
6 They slay the widow and the foreigner;
they murder the fatherless.
7 They say, “The Lord does not see;
the God of Jacob takes no notice.”
8 Take notice, you senseless ones among the people;
you fools, when will you become wise?
9 Does he who fashioned the ear not hear?
Does he who formed the eye not see?
10 Does he who disciplines nations not punish?
Does he who teaches mankind lack knowledge?
11 The Lord knows all human plans;
he knows that they are futile.
12 Blessed is the one you discipline, Lord,
the one you teach from your law;
13 you grant them relief from days of trouble,
till a pit is dug for the wicked.
14 For the Lord will not reject his people;
he will never forsake his inheritance.
15 Judgment will again be founded on righteousness,
and all the upright in heart will follow it.
16 Who will rise up for me against the wicked?
Who will take a stand for me against evildoers?
17 Unless the Lord had given me help,
I would soon have dwelt in the silence of death.
18 When I said, “My foot is slipping,”
your unfailing love, Lord, supported me.
19 When anxiety was great within me,
your consolation brought me joy.
20 Can a corrupt throne be allied with you—
a throne that brings on misery by its decrees?
21 The wicked band together against the righteous
and condemn the innocent to death.
22 But the Lord has become my fortress,
and my God the rock in whom I take refuge.
23 He will repay them for their sins
and destroy them for their wickedness;
the Lord our God will destroy them.

And You Are Eternally Righteous and Just!
Let All That Has Been Concealed,
Be Revealed.

Christians and Jews,
In Bondage in Hostile lands.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Today's Psalm is a Prayer of Confidence in the Lord. We all slip up from time to time, and this past week has been a tough one for me. First of all, there was the computer debacle, which I am still trying to sort out. Then, my hearing loss caused me to think some wrong things which caused me deep hurt and anger because I felt I was being "Gas-lighted". It came to a head at an "Open-Mike-Nite" in a noisy restaurant. I was sitting at a table with two of my sisters, when one of them turned to me and "WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO SHUT UP?"
I asked her to repeat what she just said, because it seemed too weird. My sister then looked straight at me and said,
"When are you going to go up?" (meaning, 'up to the open mike to sing a song."
I then told her what I THOUGHT I had heard, and we all had a good laugh over it.
This got me to thinking about all the trouble I had suffered this week with miscommunication and isolation that comes with hearing loss. Rush Limbaugh (RIP), who had access to all the latest in hearing aids and surgeries, once remarked that "Deafness is the only disability that blames the ones suffering from it."
Now, I am not saying that people are being deliberately cruel, but it often SEEMS that way. Well-meaning folks seem to think I can just snap my fingers and get hearing aids that will fix everything. They somehow think that I haven't tried hard enough to explore all the avenues. And, sometimes they actually tell me I am not LISTENING. (That really burns my toast!)
Anyway, one of the open-mike-guys, whom I haven't seen since the beginning of the Quarantine, asked me to sing a song I wrote called "The Mother Road". I was so touched that somebody actually remembered an original song of mine and requested it. So I "went up" and sang a Van Morisson medley (with my two sisters singing perfect backing vocals) and then I sang "The Mother Road". I didn't have any trouble hearing the applause that followed.
Psalm 94 is a song of Consolation. Sometimes it FEELS like God doesn't hear us, but He does. And he ALWAYS LISTENS. And He will NEVER tell us to "Shut Up."

I understand your struggle, as I’m deaf in one ear and have a cochlear implant. I’m also an musician. It gets tough when there’s a lot of background noise. It drowns out the voices I want to hear.
Joining in prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem and for our beloved America.
