The 'Pastoral Letter on the Environment for Pentecost' emphasizes care for the earth rather than spiritual truths related to the Holy Spirit.

WESTMINSTER, U.K., May 20, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) – In pastoral letters released in time for the feast of Pentecost, the Catholic bishops of England, Wales, and Scotland have focused on care for the environment rather than the theological meaning of the feast, urging Catholics to reduce their use of “carbon-based fuels,” accusing people of having missed the “gift” of creation, and calling for Church-wide change.

The letter issued by the Catholic Bishops Conference of England and Wales (CBCEW) is entitled “Pastoral Letter on the Environment for Pentecost,” and is due to be read and handed out in churches on Sunday, May 23. However, despite being the letter for Pentecost, the text has as its focus “love, care and respect for our common home.”

The CBCEW used the feast to elaborate on how the “outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the Church” demands a response seemingly centered on the physical aspects of the Earth. The call to “renew the face of the earth” was reinterpreted into a purely physical understanding, based on environmental policies rather than spiritual truths.

“In this liberty, as God’s children, we call on the Spirit to ‘renew the face of the Earth,’ and as his children, we are called, in turn, to use this liberty for the good of creation and for the good of all that brings life,” read the letter.

“Our world, God’s creation, is a precious gift to us. It is our common home entrusted to each generation. But how have we used that glorious liberty? How do we honour this precious gift? Are we really demonstrating love, care and respect for our common home?” The bishops stated that on the upcoming feast.......

And the “one true church” slides into further irrelevancy.

Years ago I observed that people worshipping the earth, making it their idol, is likely going to be part of why nature itself will be subject to wrath during the great tribulation.

And certainly everyone who worshipped the creation (and never repented, of course) will not see the new heaven and the new earth.

Carbon neutrality means not only that you stop breathing but that your body is sealed in an air tight container so the rotting gases can’t get out .

Kind of like how each of the plagues that God poured out on Egypt was directed at a different Egyptian deity.

The Church should not even be involved in this issue, much less making everyone feel guilty over it.

Just another reason that true believers are leaving the Anglican Church in droves. I think the Anglican priesthood will be happiest when the churches, cathedrals, and abbeys are completely empty then the priesthood can live in peace.

There is a connection of sorts with the first Pentecost. When the crowds heard the apostles speaking in tongues, they thought they were drunk. When we hear what the bishops of England, Wales and Scotland are saying, we think they are drunk.
