Testing is soaring and so cases are up; Walmart and Costco are packed, but going to church is a punishable offense.
WESTON, Nova Scotia, May 14, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) – More than two dozen adults who showed up Sunday morning to worship at a tiny parish in rural Annapolis Valley received fines totaling nearly $75,000.
RCMP ticketed 26 people $2,422 each and fined Weston Christian Fellowship Church $11,622.50 for violating rules in the second lockdown that authorities put in place April 28, according to an RCMP press release.
More deaths in 2018
Seventy-one people have died with a positive COVID-19 test result in the past 14 months in the Atlantic province, where 9,720 people died between July 2019 and 2020, so official coronavirus deaths amount to 0.72 percent of annual reported deaths in the province.
Though the population in the small maritime province grew by 3,551 people between the first quarters of 2020 and 2021, more people died (9,835) in the year before the pandemic began.
On May 14, Nova Scotia’s health department reported that 89 people were in hospital with COVID-19, including 21 who occupied ICU beds throughout the province.

Scratch any Canadian politician during a crisis and you are likely to discover a totalitarian lurking just beneath the surface.
Seriously, entire governments have given their democracy and Charted Rights over to draconian public health control.
Its wrong to say that WalMart and Costco are essential while going to church is not. There could be protocols in place to allow church attendance, reduced attendance with several services on the Sabbath, for example.
Spiritual practice is indeed essential, but not to the socialist politicians who have no freedom or liberty in their character.
I doubt many will be re-elected after the pandemic ends.
Just don’t pay.
A cop can write all the tickets he wants but if I don't give him my name and data and refuse to "accept" the kindling ... is it a ticket and a fine ?
Canadians are notoriously passive. The isue will be in the courts for years, all the way to the Supreme Court on the issue of the Canadian Bill of Chartered Rights and its freedom of religion clause.
A few who would do any Lexington style moves , would be quickly branded as crazy gun toting fundamentalists who must go to prison for violating the gun laws.
But there is no reason that we do not have a thousand or so church going protestors in front of the Nova Scotia legislature.
This is also a huge issue in Alberta.
This is absurd. Don’t pay them. And when the pandemic is over, demand they be withdrawn. Several cities/states in the USA “forgave” these stupid fines.
Great points. I hate to say it but 72 people dying is sad but no reason for us to change our lives for dubious “science”.
Hump
With a positive test result, not from COVID.
Again, deceitful reporting as if they died FROM COVID, but gotta keep the narrative going......
IF we are even ALLOWED to vote, then. I have my doubts. Here in ‘Justin’ Kenney’s Alberta, yesterday the police arrested a THIRD Pastor for daring to have a service.
I spoke with a greeter at Home Depot and he told me that 171 people were allowed in his store at one time. Churches in AB? A maximum of 15. ‘Essential’ retail stores are allowed 10% of capacity, churches are allowed only 15 people, period.
If it weren’t for their double standards, ‘Justin’ Kenney’s government would have no standards.
IIRC, Canada has the same voting machines we do, likely with the same software.
I don’t think elections will be a problem for Canada’s authoritarians.
Curiously, Dominion voting machines are not used in Canada. The provincial governments control the structure and equipage of the elctoral process. So far there are no Dominion machines in use in Canada. There are only around 37 million people in Canada, and only around 20 million vote, so its not the same koind of massive volume of votes to be tallied, Generally the votes are tabulated in the presence of statutorily appointed scrutineers from each party of the candidates who run, at each polling station.
****************************************
““Elections Canada does not use Dominion Voting Systems. We use paper ballots counted by hand in front of scrutineers and have never used voting machines or electronic tabulators to count votes in our 100-year history,” Elections Canada tweeted Monday.”
Kenney needs to get religion really fast.

Spiritual practice in a pandemic is essential. That's a fact.
The protocol needs to be changed. Just think about it. We can't even have burial rights over our loved ones who die. That is simply uncivilized, as if the People are troglodytes instead of a proud, free people.
I would expect this shiite out of True-dope or Rachel Nuttley, the NDP (read:socialist/communist) former AB Premier. To see this coming from a so-called ‘conservative’ makes my revulsion towards Kenney much deeper that what I feel toward the other two. I guess it is the CON-servative party, emphasis on the CON. ‘Justin’ Kenney is simply a traitor to conservatism and to Alberta. I can understand Americans revulsion against Benedict Arnold.
The thinng is that the culture of freedom has almost been extinguished in Canada,
I lived for 35 years in the USA, left Canada when I was 30 for a US career. So I learned what the culture of freedom realy is, it is the prime directive in America, because without it, we actually have no life, no genuine pursuit of happiness. Therefore freedom shou;d be the very last value to be abandoned by government: Freedom of Speech, freedom of assembly, freedom of religion and freedom of movement.
The biggest difference is that Canadian politicians, conservatives or whatever, will throw away the freedom of their constituents without a second thought.
The pandemic does not have to convert our society into a totalitarian state, in fact the opposite should occur, we should be designing a pandemic response which maximizes the Charter of Rights. To do that our Public Depts. of Health need to be able to walk and chew gum at the same time. For example they could be teaching the public how to use Ivermectin as a prophylaxis, and allow the people the resources to choose to use it that way as Dr, Pierre Kory has shopwn us.
Soon it will be get vaccinated or else”. Totalitarian “johnny one notes,” who will destroy a nation of free people.I am beginning to actually loath them.
Unfortunately, in Alberta, the CMOH was appointed by the NDP government, so one can guess her politics. The AHs of Alberta Health Services seem to ‘rule the roost’ when it comes to ignoring the rule of law in AB.
Judging by the way Kenney flip flopped several weeks ago, going from allowing ‘open patios’ and 15% of capacity at ALL indoor events including churches, to 15 PEOPLE per church MAX, no inside or outside dining and 10% capacity at ‘essential’ stores, it seems to me that he was threatened with his ‘secret’ being revealed.
Let’s see, what ‘secret’ being released, would he think might cause him to lose re-election in Alberta and next to no chance of becoming Prime Minister? Could it have anything to do him never being married, and the press never having shared rumours of a girlfriend, ever? Who knows!
